Isn't it amazing the way great singers are still known today by their songs?

Let me know if 10 years down the road we gonna embrace those songs 50 cent or anything Nelly or JayZ makes ok?

Rappers are in...then spit out by the dozens.

i've also noticed this rap thing, but come on guys. do you people want 50cent and nelly all over the radio or bsb and britney? in that case radio may be better nowadays than it was in the pop late'90s. but the videos are kinda annoying because they all look the same. also some people mentioned a decline of record sales since 2001, ever thought of the DOWNLOADING situation?

Downloading on CD-R is how I get most of my music anyway. Many people are getting tired of paying 16-20 bucks for CD's. But still; with the 2001-present decline of record sales 30% of the problem is the lack of good product out there.

It ain't goin' no where folks!

Hip hop is a billion dollar industry guys, it's not gonna die. To express such a disliking toward hip hop is somewhat odd being that IF IT WASN'T FOR HIP HOP, THERE WOULD BE NO FREESTYLE!!! You've been hearing hip hop every time you listen to "Together Forever", "Temptation", or "Who's Got Yo Love". Latin hip hop!

As far as rap being all the same, that statement couldn't be more false. It depends on what you wanna listen to. Rap has love songs ("'03 Bonnie & Clyde/Excuse Me Miss" Jay-Z), party anthems ("Get by" Talib Kweli), and socially conscious issues ("Come Close" Common). To be able to say that it is all the same, you would have to be able to say you've listened to every artist and found this redundance. That would never happen because it isn't true.

Bottom line, Hip hop is not just a music form, it's taken on a life of it's own and made a whole culture. It has spawned so many different subgenres. It's not gonna fade. So I guess, turn off the radio, t.v., shutdown ur pc and live life in silence. lol

alrite hiphop might not fade but it's sure gonna get replaced by other things. i highly doubt that at the end of this decade that hiphop's going to be all we see on mtv anymore, something else will have its time then. this just happens to be the time for hiphop to really shine in the mainstream.

It hasn't faded or been replaced in almost 3 decades. First it was just rap, then electro & freestyle, then r&b artists borrowed it for their material, then reggae joined, now rock & pop stars are using top hip hop industry big dawgs for their productions. It just gets bigger and bigger dawg. Get down or lay down! :stoned

rap is crap. what meaningful messages are they trying to say? it seems all i hear about is violence, sex, and weed.:uzi i think its trash
