I have a gorgeous Rottweiler named Reggie (yes after Mr. Reggie Jackson himself) who is 20 months old. He is very sweet, playful and EXTREMELY loyal to me. Unfortunately, the people in my building are complaining because they say he is dangerous.

I'm like helloooooooooooooo..I live in the South Bronx by myself,I am on 4 ft. 11/1/2 inches living in the ghetto of the South Bronx... I need a Rottie and besides he is well behaved and when I walk him he has a Halti to control his muzzle. Reggie has never ever done any harm to anyone (except when provoked).

The people are getting on my last nerve cause they want me to get rid of him....

How should I approach this situation?

I need your help peeps!

well since you have the dog on a leash and muzzled when you walk him, there is not much they can do i think. now if he is allowed to roam free then they might have a basis for a complaint. i'd speak to the aspca and find out if you are within all the legal rghts.

Thats a tough one cause dogs r like babies... I love my dog as if she was my babie.....lol i say stick to ur guns and try to keep him... you need him for protection especially where u live !!! i would fight it till the end i wouldnt let anyone make me give up my dog...

Thanks

I have spoken to them and they say there is no problem as long as I am responsible with him. I don't let him roam cause the sucka is quite quick when he is loose, so he is on a heavy duty leash and I put a muzzle on him.

I understand their concern because of all the drama that has been happening, but my boobie is well trained and I'm always on top of him when he's outside.

Thanx for your suggestion!

Nena, I do call him my son. People think I'm crazy, but they grow on you. I don't intend on letting him go just to please them. I wouldn't like animosity between the neighbors and me, pero I can't please everyone..right?

Thanx ma

LOL Myriam thats my dogs nickname Boobie Nina LOL

What Kind of Dog

Aren't they gorgeous? Since I don't have any kids yet..Reggie is my boobie.
He's 150 pounds and still growing.

my personal opinion is it should be illegal to own any dog of that type cause god forbid he's "provoked" & kills a child!!!

wow hes huge... people r probably scared of him... is he friendly with people when they come close to u??? or does he get mad... my dog get mad when people come near me when im with her ....:lol she is not mean looking at all my dog is medium size but her bark is so mean people get scared but she truly is harmless but so many people r scared of her ... good luck with your situation.....

Baby1010, he is a sweetheart and very friendly. A lot of people know him around the block, especially a lot of cops and they all like him. He's a sweety.

Sounds....As for it being illegal...that's going a bit too far. I understand the concern behind it, but the responsibility lies on both; the owner making sure he/she is doing their part and keeping a leash on him and people not being too laxed and irresponsible.

Don't get me wrong, I know some of these dogs are vicious but not all. Why should an innocent dog have to pay for the vicious ones? Just my personal opinion.

Thank you for yours.

Myriam, what area of the bronx are you from? I'm near Pelham Parkway..

yah ur probably right about that.... the illegal part going too far... it was just my first reaction... in any event u seem to be very responsible & I hope the situation works out for evry1!!! 🙂

I work for the city Department of Health and in actuality the city is trying to ban the ownership of these aggressive dogs! (mainly pitbulls)

I am strongly against it since I know several people with beautiful, tamed rottweilers & pitbulls. :mad

Heartbrake...I live in Southern Boulevard. I have many friends near your area.

Sounds...Thank you for your well wishes. I too hope it all works out.

MyOnlySweetie....I hope the ban doesn't go through because it's wrong for every good dog to have to pay for the vicious ones. I'll go crazy without my boobie.

Could you please keep me posted if you hear anything going through....mira eso..!!!!

Hey

Just let them know, you have a leash, you can control him. It's not like you going to make him attack people. Where I work, I need a wolf to protect me.

Kenny...You're right...thus far no problems, expect for people's fear.

Mike...you're too funny. I could lend you Reggie for a weekend..lol lol

I love smaller dogs though!!! But in the mean streats of NE DC you need a tough dog to protect you.

In the mean streets of the South Bronx in NYC, you need a Reggie by your side.

as long as you have records of his vacinations, records showing no aggressive behaviors, no one has been bitten, and you keep him on his leash and muzzle, I don't see what leg the complainers have to stand on.
