Jason,
Lewis A. Martinee is doing very well. He Owns amd runs a beautiful world class Recording studio in Miami,Near Tamiami Airport.Lewis gave me a tour of his fabulous studio and i must say it's AWESOME!!He's also been pretty busy doing alot of work for Sony Latin(Oscar LLord).I've had the pleasure of meeting and talking to him about perhaps colaborating with him on some really cool projects.Lewis has been one of my biggest inspirations since very early on probably before Expose and I'm glad to see him still doin his thing.Lewis is not only a great Producer and writer,he also is an Excelent Engineer so when he's not producing or writing sure enough he's behind his SSL J9000 doin some engineering or Mastering some Sony Project. He may have quieted down quite a bit since his last hit but you better beleive he's not out of the game and plans to stay around for a while.
Thanks for the reply, Edwin. I agree with you that he is a talented producer. I also believe that he was probably the most creative writer in Freestyle. I haven't seen his name on any credits recently. Please update us when you get some songs out from your collaboration. Jason
As fate would have it, I just spent the afternoon with Lewis. Eight years ago, three of us (Lewis, as well as Willie and I from Paris By Air) each had baby boys so they have sort of grown-up together. Keep an ear out for them in a couple of years, we're planning the next major freestyle megagroup! Actually, our singer Teri married Lewis' little brother so we're all family, even if today was spent at a local Chuck E. Cheeze and not in the recording studio.
Anyway, Lewis continues to do amazing work -- if not even more amazing -- in the studio. Yes, the days of Atlantic signing anyone from Miami are long gone. He's doing some great stuff in the latin market but he's also got his own projects going. He's looking to get an all-guy group and an all-girl group signed.
One of our songs, All Around the Sound, is being redone and will be released early next year for one of his projects. I heard the latest version today, it's amazing. He slowed it down to 120 bpm and it swings in a Destiny's Child go freestyle kinda way.
