Hellooooooo....everyone! New guy here and I'm glad to have found a new home, much love to all of you for keeping the music alive! A little about me, I'm a big fan of Freestyle music and have been for many, many years. I grew up listening to the sounds of Latin Freestyle in Honolulu, Hawaii believe it or not, it was huge there for many years from the 80's to 90's, infact we even had our own freestyle act's like BBC, The New Generation, Sunland, etc that used to pop freestyle music in Hawai'i. Not many people know, how big freestyle was in Hawai'i, I remember when me and my friends would be cruisin' downtown or Waikiki and everybody would be jammin the same radio stations that would be playing Noel, TKA, Cynthia, Safire, Stevie B., Coro, Will to Power, Cover Girls, Trinere, Debbie Deb, etc.
Back in the 80's our big source for Freestyle music in Honolulu was Power92(no longer on air) & Hot I-94(kiki fm) today you can still hear freestyle music on the airwaves out there on I-94(which I'm glad is still around like how New York's outlet KTU), Da Bomb 102.7, 93.1 The Q(they play all the old skool fav's) to Wild 105 on Maui. Even though freestyle music is not as abundant as before I'm just glad it's still around! Much love to Cynthia, Safire, TKA, etc Florida, & Bay area artists for keeping alive until this day. I hope one day the artists that I grew up listening to make it really big one day to where all corners of America & The World will here the sound that I feel was ahead of its time when it first came out and now is the time for them to shine once again. I do know that places like Canada, Germany,and parts of Asia like the Phillipines have already embraced the sound of Freestyle that New York had established in the Latin community long ago. Much love to all those that represent, sorry for being so long winded, but i'm happy to be here!
