Since radio is becoming crap, and iPods and XM is taking over. How would you make radio better. Like If you could be the program directors of Hot 97, Z100, KTU. What would you change about the station and it's playlists?

Me, in DC, I would loosen up Hot 995 playlist, add more catalog of recent 90's hits, give more of variety. There is too much hip hop in DC, and fire Midday chick: KT Harris. Damn that bit*h is annoying!!

KTU came back totally dance and now they got a bit of everything...hell i even here Prince on there and he's far from dance....I would leave the rap, R&B and hip hop to HOT 97 and get back to strictly dance/freestyle

Yes.....I would play more dance/freestyle if I was the PD of KTU.

Also, the remixes would be cut down dramatically. I would dedicate more air time to actual dance music artists, as opposed to ballads and r&b hits remixed to get air time on a dance station.

They need to stop playign the same dayum songs over and over again as frequently as they do they need to be open minded and play differetn styles and not the same watered down shiat and they need better radio personalitys and do more on the street with listeners thingys lol

Contempary Radio(even Hot 97 and WPGC(DC) though are hip hop but are still considered Urban Top 40) are mostly owned by Infinity and Clear Channel(The Devil). The Top 40 format is a dying format due to the fact that these companies basicly fax the same playlist to all their stations. Z100, Q102(Philly), Hot995(DC) all sound alike. This is turning people off from this format. The personalities don't even play the records, they are there only to talk and be dumb.

Stop the blah blah blah in the morning shows.. When im driving to work I wanna hear music not talk radio! Thats why I play mostly CD's.. Try to NOT repeat the same damn song 7500 times @ day! Geez.. makes u hate it and not wanna buy it !

The N'Suck, Britney era killed Top 40 even more. They over saturate you with the same old songs. Even Hot AC(955 WPLJ) do it. That's why these Jack stations are becoming big now and Urban Adult stations are popular.

Well lets see...I would put alot of latinos on the airwaves to give out a hot selection. After all...americans say we are hot 😉

def go to a jack format. i love that station. cuase i have yet to hear a d j. which that in itself is music to my ears.

next they gotta do a jack format. where out of no where you hear a great 80's song or great 70's song that you thought was dead and burried. and the one or two great 90' song.

like yesterday on jack i heard. if you like pinna colotas and getting cought in the rain.
that was a one hit wonder from 77. you never hear that song.

but you heard it on jack. or youll hear bon jovi out of no where.

that i think is a winning formula. No dj's none not one zero. and dead and burried hits.

i think jack has a good start.

Now what we need is a Rhythmic version of Jack. All Disco, Dance/freestyle, some R/B, some Pop(but very little.LOL) mostly Old School Hip Hop, we good to go.

there is a radion station in miami 93.1. that did jack for freestyle. but i gotta tell ya it didnt work out so well. and its not the same. its odd. cuase when you do it for rock
or pop it works just great.

but when you do it for freestyle. it sounds llllllollll like the d j got locked out of the radio station or like he left the record player on llllolll or like there was a short in the sation.

i love freestyle and club. but it didnt sound the same when they did it. it sounded odd.

but then miami has a real transe tip going on. so they played alot of transe music. and transe versions of information society. and alot of time they played the same song 4 or 6 times a day.

but i dont know freestyle could stand on its own two feet in a jack format. i should be beaten for saying that lllloll.

but i dont know? freestlye is fun when you have some one talking between songs. but by it self it sounds odd.

like some one left a tape on.

youd see if you heard that station in miami 93.1

im on fire mike heres another one i was right about. this was the all freestyle format station in miami i was talking about.

Miami's Party 93.1 is no more
We have lost Party 93.1 to Rock 93...What the hell is wrong with Cox Radio....to them I wish

The sort-of-good news is that the new Mega 94.9 is playing some freestyle and old dance, but not enough and you have to take the reggeton and rap in between.

Party 93.1 switches to rock format
BY CHRISTINA HOAG

South Florida's dance music station Party 93 is now a rock and roller. The station abruptly switched formats late Monday and is now Rock 93.

The move comes three days after Clear Channel flipped its progressive rock station WZTA 94.9 FM to Hispanic urban on Friday, leaving fans of new rock groups such as Pearl Jam and Hoobastank in the lurch.

''Cox decided there is room for a second rocker,'' said Tom Taylor, editor of Inside Radio/M Street. ``The chessboard just changed again.''

The format change is the second for 93.1 FM. For years, until January 2002, it was classical station WTMI. Cox Radio then changed the call letters and format to WPYM and rhythmic dance music, which has had mediocre success as a radio format across the country.

Faced with less than stellar ratings and an opportunity to sweep up WZTA's fan base, Cox decided to make the switch before those listeners found new niches in stations such as Clear Channel's WBGG-FM 105.9, classic rock, or WHYI-FM 100.7, contemporary.

THe switch is also the third this year in South Florida's competitive radio market. Last month, WKAT-AM 1360 turned from classical into conservative news/talk.
