Progressive Freestyle is a hybrid between trance, euro and Freestyle..
Not a very tasteful combination I think.😱

Alex,

You described Progressive FreeStyle well. In addition, Progressive FreeStyle (or TripStyle, as I like to call it) tends to over-use the Planet Rock loop and that annoying "acid" bassline.

Yea Fernando.. There's nothing more boring...there's nothing more CHEESY!.than the planet rock + Acid + Euro melodies + 135 BPM..CHESSECHEESECHEESECHEESECHEESE
Did I say it loud and clearly?!?!
I CAN'T TAKE NOMORE CHEEZYWACKNESS!!!
Soon It will probably be imberrasing for me to call myself a Freestylefan, if this is the kind of music that people will think of when they hear the word Freestyle. Please keep all EuroTripStyleCheesinez in the Canada section on this board, no offense FreaK.

Where's FreaK by the way? LOL

All you need to know is to stay away from it.

You asked for an explanation, so you got one:

What exactly IS PROGRESSIVE FREESTYLE and please give me an example....I miss the good old days when the only labels were GREAT,GOOD, And BAD!! Is it anything like PROGRESSIVE HOUSE?? hmm explain please?

In any case, Progressive FreeStyle is mostly fast-paced dance music trying to pass itself off as real FreeStyle. That's the way I see it.

If you've ever heard of Angelina, then you've heard of Progressive FreeStyle.

Yes, that's her.

Yes, it is the same girl who sang a version of "Bailando." She can sing, but I don't consider her (nor most of her music) to be FreeStyle.

Other examples of Progressive FreeStyle are:
Rockell - "I Fell In Love"
Cynthia - "Like A Star"
Robin Fox - "I See Stars"

Although the above songs are not bad, I would not consider them FreeStyle, at least not in the same sense as Tiana's "First True Love" or Corina's "Give Me Back My Heart."

P.S. Progressive FreeStyle is just a term some people, including myself, use so as to know what type of so-called FreeStyle to avoid.

Hey babe,

That goes to show you what those other radio stations play today,

CRAP!

It's like they're saying "Hey let's call this EURO-GARBAGE - PROGRESSIVE FREESTYLE - that way we can finally bury the genre or at least keep FREESTYLE outlawed from Radio & the minds of the new generation" They don't want to spread LOVE SONGS... EVIL rules & they love making all the money that they can out of it!!!

BUT...The really good music will always stay underground!

Progressive freestyle is freestyle music of today .. Up tempo beats as fast as 132 and higher .. Kind of energetic but still emotional and magical 😉

well not in my book...

there's a handful good "progressive" songs, some of the songs that BBOY3000 mentioned..those are the songs where the producer managed to keep alittle of the oldschool feeling but using a newer sound..
such as
George LaMond - Lately
Cynthia - If I Had The Chance
Corina - Summertime, Summertime (CB Mixx)

But...there's not many producers or songwriters who have the skills to do it.. I could never imagine Chris Barbosa doin a whack progressive song, just listen to his nice songs on the George LaMond's "The hits and more" or The Legends Of Style "We Are The Ones"

So instead we get the Euromelodies, Acidness, A weak planetrock sample, and a tempo that's waaaaay to fast. soon we can call it happy hardcore but with a planet rockdrum instead of a 4/4 drum.
I won't support this, I rather collect the classics I miss in my collection, It's far from complete.

Progressive freestyle is hot...it is energy-it is THE ONLY FREESTYLE U WILL HEAR IN CLUBS THESE DAYS....and yes..let's just call it freestyle from now on..because old school freestyle has no place in the future..like it or not..so all u die hard fans should put your mixed tapes on cd b4 u wear them out....

Progressive is not crap as the others have said... I personally like it the best. Why? Reason is I was a fan of Dance/Euro before I was a fan of Freestyle, and progressive is a combination of my fave types of music, plus it's more upbeat than old school, it keeps me pumped, which is good if ya ask me. BBOY3000 listed some great track there, a couple of them are some of my favourites. I don't honestly know why some of you old school fans totally say that the new school progressive style is garbage, cause it sure is far from that! About bailando, the only version I know is the one done by Elissa, and that was a kick butt track, that pumped me up all the time!

First of all, RythmFaktor doesn't know anything obviously. Progressive Freestyle is nothing but CHEESE. All the real headz know that stuff is wack. And for y'all Canada peepz: Rock the Style but STOP TRYING TO RUIN THE MUSIC. Euro has no place in Freestyle. Freestyle come from the streets of Spanish Harlem. Many consider Euro to be "gay".

In my opinion, there's a place for all the styles. What matters is if the song is good or bad. There are a lot of good old school songs as well as there are some really bad old school stuff. With Progressive, it happens the same: There's a lot of good and bad stuff. To me, it doesn't matter if the song is progressive, new or old school. If the song is good I'll buy it.
