WELL ITS ALSO OBVIOUS THAT THE PEEPS THAT LIKE OLD SCHOOL DONT BUY THE NEW CDS. THEY WOULDNT KNOW IF THE OLD SCHOOL SOUND WAS BEING DONE. IF I WAS TO POST THIS ON A WEST COAST SITE IT WOULD BE A DIFFERENT STORY. BUT WE GOTTA REMEMBER ALSO,. THE MAJORITY OF SALES ARE ON THE WEST COAST NOT THE EAST NOW ADAYS. I LOVE OLD SCHOOL TOO, BUT I SAW THAT NO ONE WAS BUYING IT ANYMORE SO I MIXED UP BOTH THE STYLES. AND IT SELLS BETTER THAT WAY. I GET BOTH OF THE SIDES TAKEN CARE OF. MOST OF THESE PEOPLE WHO PRIASE OLD SCHOOL DISS NEW SCHOOL NOT EVEN HEARING IT. WHICH IS SAD. CAUSE I KNOW THAT WHEN THEY GO TO A STORE AND SEE NEW ARTISTS NAMES THEY WONT BOTHER TO BUY IT. JUST BECAUSE YOU BUY A CD YOU DONT LIKE DOESNT MEAN ALL NEW FREESTYLE IS BAD. ALOT OF GOOD FREESTYLE NEVER EVEN GETS A CHANCE TO BE HEARD. AND IT MIGHT BE THAT OLD SCHOOL TYPE OF SOUND ON THESE COMPS. BUT I GUESS WE HAVE NO TRUE ANSWER. SO I'LL JUST KEEP DOING MY THING. MIXING THE OLD WITH THE NEW. ITS WORKING FOR ME. AND THE FANS SEEM TO LIKE IT. THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO POSTED THEIR IDEAS. I JUST WANNA SEE WHATS GONNA HAPPEN WHEN THERE IS NO MORE COMPANYS LIKE MINE PUTTING OUT NEW FREESTYLE. WHAT THEN? I GUESS WE'LL ALL HAVE TO LIVE IN THE PAST. THEIR ISNT MANY OF US LEFT DOING IT. I WISH THERE WAS. GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE NEW LABELS AND PRODUCERS OUT THERE. ITS A TOUGH BUSINESS.....

HEY KID HEARTBREAK WE FINALLY AGREED ON SOMETHING. YOU SEE THIS SITE UNITES PEOPLE. LOL
BUT ITS TRUE OLD SCHOOL HEADS (NOT ALL) DONT REALLY GIVE THE NEW SCHOOL A CHANCE. I CAN TELL YOU HOW MANY TIMES I HAVE ENCOUNTERED AN OLD SCHOOL HEAD WHEN I GIVE THEM ONE OF MY CDS THEY JUST BUGG. THEY SAY "MAN I DIDNT KNOW FREESTYLE LIKE THIS WAS OUT TODAY" "I'M IN LOVE WITH FREESTYLE AGAIN". HUNDREDS OF TIMES. ITS CRAZY!!

a lot of the oldschool fans dont have to buy these new cds to give newschool a chance. we can hear all of these new songs online to realize that we dont like them. songs like s factor-hard to get and artists like vita, vla, marisol, etc etc etc have gained popularity among both old and new fans. these songs are quality. that should tell you something. another example is science-maskerade. although its not one of my favorite "sounds" it is a quality song and i give it a good review. a simple solution is to just put out oldschool and newschool mixes of each song. like lil suzy's-promise me. the oldschool mix was hot yet when played in clubs i always heard the newschool mix. but the record was bought by all.

WELL ITS HARD TO PUT OUT CD SINGLES WITH REMIXED SINCE THEY DONT SELL. SO WE LOSE ALOT OF MONEY WHEN WE DO PUT OUT SINGLES. I AGREE THOUGH. 2 MIXES SHOULD ALWAYS BE DONE. NOW ITS JUST A FINANCIAL PROBLEM.

SUGGESTION!!!

it'd be cool if there were like ep's made of like 4 or 5 different songs or something (kinda-sorta like captain did with freestyle is alive in 95 - vla & sarina paris...) and each song could have like 3 mixes each.

That's a brutal E.P.

The E.P. suggestion may not be a bad idea, but that Captain E.P. was fairly brutal. The Sarina Paris song was especially bad, with cacophonous vocals. 😱

Willieeeeeeee

Hold on! Please don't let me be misunderstood! - Now where did I hear that before???

Anyway, I am not an OLD SCHOOL HEAD... I like Freestyle in it's entirety!

Maybe I got a little discouraged when I heard a few so called "Best of Freestyle" compilations in which featured a whole bunch of New Jacks with the same 'PLANET ROCK' beat & one-fingered candy-ass tunes...

But I'm willing to give you the Bene of the doubt!

Why don't you recommend some new artist that makes good use of the genre & I will listen to it...

Eastcoast, Westcoast?!! Chicago?!! ? Come on Willie what about Texas? : ( Don't forget us in Texas~~~~~> I want old school baby LOL

Third Coast Freestyle

Hi Willie, this is Jeannie from San Antonio, Texas. I love anything Freestyle, especially music such as Collage, Romeo, Lil Suzy. What's really important is that the lyrics are relatable to people. If the words are different and the melody is catchy, I love it because then I can listen to a song over and over again.
Are you interested in any new artist?
Also, I want you to be the first to know that my mom has produced a local show on tv here in san antonio and we are gonna start concentrating on showcasing videos of freestyle artist.
You see, freestyle is still popular here, but it's very underground. Right now our radio stations are not very supportive, mainly because a new station came in and took up KTFM's ratings, so now KTFM is focusing on hip hop. People buy bootlegged tapes because they don't know where else they can get the music. I was hoping that with our new format for the show, we can expose freestyle music and artists so they get the recognition they deserve. If you are interested in sending me any videos of performances or anything else, please let me know.
Well good luck on your compilation. You are very talented.
Jeannie

"free-style"

meaning any style I want!pop, latin, alternative, country, rock based turn on the blender and make a freestyle_shake!!!
wassup jeanie!!I remember ur demo---u got talent kid!
btw bootleg tapes made kF a name in the biz long before I could afford a singing career it is a perfectly natural way for common folks to participate in the music biz and show their love.Think about it!!

I am from Toronto, drive a phat GTI and the only freestyle beats you'll hear pounding through the JL 12" are the old school with the exception of Ellissa.

Old school and Miami Bass.

I missed this thread. I was in Chicago will all this was ongoing. My response isn't really towards the thread anyway. But for the record Willie, just do the Willie-Style & I'm sure it will be all good.

I read all of the responses on this thread. I am an Old Skool head to the max. The reason that I never buy any new cd's with new Freestyle singers is because I never heard of any of them. I have heard a couple of new songs in the past couple of years from a compilation that have caught my ear. But I think the bottom line that nobody buys the new Freestyle cd's is because nobody will bother putting out a single to support it. I for one have not & will not buy a compilation for the fact that I have never heard any single on their to support it. All of the cd compilations that I have were are sent to my store for promo use & that's when I would order them for store sales. With the exception of the cd that Willie gave me in Miami WMC '99, I have no other Artistik cd's.

Trust me when I say that promos & singles will not hurt a label. I know that the labels see it as more money they need to dish out, but it takes money to make money.

I promote underground mixx cd's & I will be the first to tell any label you need to advertise. I'm sure that Freestyle Y2K1 is doing better in the East Coast than any other previously released cd for the fact that it is now being advertised on CF.

I myself do not even have an ad on CF & I make alot of coin from the members here. Oops did I say that out loud? So I know that Willie, Randy & Joe are making a killing from this site.
