god you know i used to love that song now i cringe everytime i hear it...i think that song represents the decline of freestyle..once everybody started using that track for every song... freestyle fell off..even now when i listen to the original im like awwww i cant stand it....niggas signin all over that track about how there woman done them wrong...boo..boo..boo..boo..boo.wigham..boo..boo..boo..boo..boo..wigham...excertra..excertra..man i hate that shit..especially metropolitan and viper which played that shit to death..even rockell to this date still rockin the planet..😡

Thank godness, someone else can't stand one of the worst loops ever used as part of the freestyle sound, that helped to kill any type of success that freestyle music had. Also it help freestyle become the punch line to too many joke made by radio PD's & MD's..... Damb shame.... 🙁
 
Planet Rock

I do agree that there are too many songs that use the Planet Rock, boom-chica-boom, loop on their songs, HOWEVER...

1. You can still make a good track with this beat. (e.g. Take Me in your Arms)

2. Other gendres of music can use the same beat for most of their songs (e.g. Euro, Rock, Metal) so why cant there be a similar beat for some Freestyle songs.

3. It's not the "Planet Rock" beat that kills the newer, mass produced tracks, its the bad vocals, cheezy laser sounds and orchestra hits.

I think todays producers need to listen to acts like Elissa, Freda and some of Adam Marano's stuff for different beats for Freestyle. (Freda's "Dreaming of Tonight" uses the Planet Rock beat but in a modern way with heavy hihat).

I think it is also ok to copy some original beats (Spring Love, Silent Morning,etc) in newer songs just to change the flava.

the original is still gold but on the real ....that loop needed to be retired to florida and on social securtity 10 years ago!!! the next artist to use this should be shot on the spot..no jury..no trail

Unfortunatelly, 90% of the Brazilian freestyle (here is called as funky melody), uses "Planet Rock" beats.

Guys, the Planet Rock beat is the heart of freestyle, without it, freestyle wouldnt have it's sound and you guys wouldve been mad pissed at all the possible alternaties. What other sound is there? Theres really not one that everyone can be satisfied with. So you cant really blame the artists back then for using these samples. I agree, it is a retired and old beat but without it, what else is there? Alot of the producers now, are disguising the beat to keep flow going and at the same time not get criticized for it. It's worked so far. I learned this awhile ago. Peace!
