I just purchased some very old cd's from the canadian based group called candi and the backbeat and their music is outstanding... After loooking on the internet i saw that they were nominated for several junos in the late 80's early 90's... I just wanted to know if they are still making music or waht happend to them in general... They might not be completly freestyle but their cd's has come catchy tunes...
 
that sux... she's very talented... So she left the industry im guessing after the last album she put out?

Candi Spinelli and the group enjoyed continuous club and radio popularity nationwide in Canada while in university. The singles and albums sold quite well and Universal at the time was very very happy with the numbers. The bunch, while still in school, was no longer motivated to keeping the project going.

You will be able to hear of them as they will be featured on a 80's cancon segment on Muchmoremusic in October along with the "Tu" twins (of "stay with me"fame),Strange Advance, Honeymoon Suite, Platinum Blonde, The Spoons and One 2 One.

She still does music, but not in the way that she used to.

She married someone from her band, and now is a music teacher.

many of you seem to know alot about this stuff... is it possible you could help me identify a song? i have a portion of the song from a few years back but i dont know who sings it or what the artist is.... Its almost sounds like the work of candi and the backbeat but its not, well i dont think it is...

Actually, she was pretty popular back in the late 80s. She was all over Muchmusic. She was pretty cute too. Good Scarborough girl!

it's almost weird... just looking at the list of people she was up against for a juno like celine dion its impressive... Hopefully i'll get a chance to see the show on much more music in october... Hopefully she'll make a comeback one day...
 
If any of you guys could listen to the clip i have im hoping ull know what it is... i know its from the early 90's and i have asked several people in the US what it was and they didnt know... So from that im assuming its a canadian track... just let me know if u could help me....
