I was driving some of my friends somewhere a few years ago, we had the windows down, it was a nice night.

Then, this foul smell filled the car, it was soooo nasty.

Gasonline smell actually used to make me NAUSEOUS when I was a kid (maniatico que era).

I don't think I ever "whiffed" my socks after a day at work or something, though I do have the bad habit of taking them off while maybe watching TV & leaving them on the couch for several hours side by side which my significant other HATES!
