on my way to work every morning..i am reminded how well off i am despite my job sucking the life out of me when i pass a part of freeport long island where imigrants huddle in the cold and wait for someone to pull up and give them work for the day..they actually fight each other to get on work trucks and vans that pull up..i really dont understand why INS doesnt just pick them up..there in the open and obviously illegal everyone knows about them .. any way as i pass i say "there but for the grace of god go I"
 
well the linden walmart by me was in the news as well. they didnt clean too good there so maybe a new bunch will do better.

I know the spot you are speakjng of. my brother used to have me go there to pick up a worker once in a while and when you pull in, they all swarm to you, looking for work. But most of them have no skills whatsoever. And people wonder why employers want to pay them so little. they dont know how to work!
 
They had spots out there in yonkers, and my ex-hubby lost alot of work cuz of this problem. They work for cheaper wages...U can pay a man $75 for the entire day of work, where my ex would get $150. It made it hard for our house cuz of this.
I still feel bad about those peeps I canned..........

You're just doing your job, but it goes to show you have a :hpound and still you understand these people. But still you did your job, otherwise it would've bee you without a job. Just hang in there, maybe those that you fired learned a lesson and maybe they'll come back in the future with everything legal and maybe it'll be your turn to give them a second chance, which everyone deserves. :yeey
 
I agree with GI 500% ! Well said. Liz you have nothing to feel guilty about because if you were the boss, you would've handled it differently. But because you work for someone else, you have to go by those rules. And like GI said, you may one day be in a position where you can help these people. 😉
