I think it's Freestyle. Maybe not pure, but it's definetly a sub-genre of freestyle (Electro, breakbeat). I would like to know the actual definition of freestyle to all y'all who don't think it is.

1. Both Madonna and her record company don't consider this song Freestyle. The Beat is too slow to be considered freestyle.
2. If Cynthia, Lisette, or SaFire would have recorded this song the exact same way it curently recorded, and sang the exact same way Modonna sings it, then no. Remember these though these artist did sing alot of freestyle song, they still have a few songs that had either more of a hip-hop or house sound to them.

So Madonna & Warner Bros. actually made a statement saying there is no way in hell the song could be considered freestyle? Where at?
The beat isn't any slower than "Hooked On You" or "Hungry For Your Love". In fact it's actually faster than both.

Cynthia & Madonna always had similar vocals in my opinion. In different styles, but their voices are very similar. U can't tell me that had Cynthia recorded this same track, we would be having this same debate.

I can name a few Madonna songs that are a heck of a lot closer to Freestyle than 'Die Another Day'

Think Of Me

Die Another Day is definitely electro...as for a Freestyle artist singing it, I still wouldn't consider it PURE Freestyle.
 
1) The clean cut mix is definitely 100% freestyle

2) The song is charted on the freestyle top 10 up here in Canada and our opin ions often differ from those in the US

I would consider Die Another Day a freestyle song if we're talking about what it's evolved into in 2002....but if we're talking traditional old school freestyle....no way.
