Vocal effect

I'm trying to create the same vocal effect Roger Troutman had when he used a skwak box and apply it to FREESTYLE music production. Can this same effect be done with a guitar talker if I run my keyboard through it with a microphone, or does anyone know where I can get my hands on a working skwak box? I know they're hard to find.

Joe Grandberg of Hyperspace Productions was able to drop the 411 on this item. I finally found it at Musiciansfriend.com under the name "talk box" and snagged one for about $140.00 plus s&h. Thanks to all who had my back on this one.
