Well here's a suggestion: VH1 DOES have its ALL-REQUEST HOUR...let's just bombard them with requests from freestyle artists...it usually takes about a month for your vid pick to get on the air. Imagine an all-freestyle all-request hour...it could happen if we time our requests just right

It simple, just visit Vh1 website and email them, they respond quickly and that way you will know if you did something or our music just got shove to the side. My thought will be to include everything you can gather from these artists.
Such as Commercials, TV Shows, Radio, Labels, and artists with the exposure they had in the past and what they are doing now such as "Marc Anthony, India, Shannon, Lisa Lisa, ect." just give them the avenues to go and dig this information and have them work on putting a great show for us and for those who never knew about how much Impact has this music did and continue to try to do.
Just a thought but I think is worth the try. I already email them and request some information, also remember to say Dance also known as Freestyle, just because it will be a bigger access to find things. Here's their information:
Q: How can I tell VH1.com about a cool band they should write about, or a news story they should investigate?
A: Please e-mail your comments, suggestions, and responses to help@vh1mail.com and we will send them to the appropriate writer or editor.

So what are you waiting for people lets get this show on the road, thanks!

When Freestyle ruled the world on VH1

I think that would be a great idea, or also an episode of Where are they now? I would love to know what they have been up to these days. :idea

Hey LatinChic, welcome to CF! 🙂
About "Where Are they Now", they have done some shows already in the past with artists like:
Brenda K. Starr
Lisa Lisa
Expose'
Seduction
Shannon
The Jets
Taylor Dayne
Pretty Poison
Nu Shooz
Sheila E.
& others.
You may still catch them on TV from time to time. 🙂

Right!
Another thing, ...they have a few radio stations on their site that plays hott oldskool & Freestyle jamz. They were playing Eileen Flores, The Cover Girls, Safire, The Latin Rascals, & Coro to name a few! 🙂

Damn I just saw some Freestyle on Vh-1....But it was the other freagin freestyle....ITS HIP HOP WEEK ON VH-1 , GOD HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As much as I hate to....

i agree with the majority. i'm originally from the burbs of chicago and freestyle was HUGE back in the day. even though, the mainstream was accepting of the cover girls, sweet sensation, and safire in the late 80s.....the majority of people have long forgotten these artists, even though we fans still remember them. i grew up in a neighborhood of italians/hispanics where it was all we listened to. this seems to be the trend of people who still listen to or remember freestyle. i only have a handful of friends that remember freestyle and those people grew up in similar towns like me. i like to describe freestyle as "neighborhood music". people in my town jammed to it, but people in the town next door didn't. in my neighborhood, if you didn't listen to freestyle, you were a loser. now, people are like, what's this weird music you're listening to? when i went off to college, almost no one had a clue what freestyle was or its artists (a school of about 25,000 people). granted many of them, might have seen sweet sensation or the cover girls open for new kids on the block, or heard stevie b on pop radio.....but for the most part, they are considered your typical 80s pop artists when in reality they are legends of freestyle.

don't get me wrong, i would love a freestyle special or even for it to make a comeback.....but i think it's far fetched. it's sad to think that major radio stations whose playlist use to consist of half freestyle have since taken it off the radar. it is true that some artists in the 80s signed merchandising deals with major sponsors (i.e. the cover girls with sprite), but they were minor deals or only in spanish markets. don't get me wrong, i'm not trying to minimize freestyle's impact, but on the grand scale, it should've been bigger than it was.

what we need to do at the least, is still support freestyle as if it was in its prime. play cynthia's "change on me" at your next party, bump to sweet sensation's "take it while it's hot" in your car, jam to debbie deb's "lookout weekend" when you're getting ready to go out. i know i do.

VH1 when freestyle ruled the world

YO I live in Tampa and if it wasn't for one of my boys being a Dj and me going to Miami I wouldn't know what freestyle was. Most of the people from New York that I know that really called it club music and didn't think it was street enough. I love it so much that I got some turntables and started buying old freestyle records. Now with the internet you can find anything you need on any subject. I think no matter what if they do shows on it or not the fans will keep freestyle alive. Look at the radio dial and you hear a station say they play hits from the 70's , 80's and 90's and when you call to get a freestyle song they play Stevie B. There all always going to be people who run the radio and the tv stations that are 60 and 70 years old that think what they see on MTV is the cool thing to do. It's up to us fans to keep the music alive and go see the artists in concert and support thier music. Peace

I guess nobody got anything back from VH1 huh? Cause I haven't got a reply yet, I will try later again.
