Versions and special editions of freestyle

I remember around 1986 some radio stations and discoteques was playing 12 inches special versions of some freestyle popular songs. Exist today this editions on cd?
For example some songs like "The Mexican" and "Say it say it" haves a version with only-instrumental+chorus music. Anybody know some about this?

From El Salvador, Central America...
Some 12" comes with second side instrumental version, but this not the issue I say. Are version differents of the regular edition that usually are remixes (mix the same song, joing segments or portions, poweder some efects, etc)
The old radio station played this LPs and remember they said these versiones was exclusivy for radio. I never seen this editions on the music stores.
