Hey bigMarc, are you from Costa Rica??????

Thank you GI.......that made me really think of going to PR for vacation this year. 🙂 How beautiful. I have to go back and look at the rooms now. I was looking at the restaurant and scenery.

Well let me just tell you Culebra is not a "party all night island", it's for relaxation and enjoying the outdoors. There's a lot to do during the day, snorkeling, seeing the coral reefs, sun bathing. It's a very small island and it's soooo different from the main island (Puerto Rico), I like going there when I want to relax and do nothing. Not a lot of activity during the night but I enjoy it a lot. The locals protect the beaches a lot they enjoy visitors but the first thing they tell you is not to litter and they lookout for that a lot.

Culebra provides many possibilities for scuba diving and snorkeling among beautiful coral reefs, turtle watching and hiking to remote sand beaches. The island has no major hotels, no casinos, no fast food chains, no night clubs, no shopping malls and no crime. This is the place for the travelers who are looking for the natural beauty, adventure and deserted beaches.

Wow, it sounds amazing. Thank you so much for the info. I'm going to share it with my husband when he comes home from work. Do you live near Culebra?
I dont know what you mean by near, but my home is not close it's an hour drive from my house to Fajardo, that's the port where you take the ferry to Culebra or the airport too.
You have to get to Culebra on a ferry (they call it Lancha), but it's a nice one it has a/c, nice cushioned seats with a plasma tv and you could watch a movie. The ferry takes an hour to an hour and half depending on the tides. But's its a fun journey 'cause you could see the island of Puerto Rico as you leave and watch all the other cute small islands as the ferry goes by, and depending on the season sometimes you see dolphins swimming along with the ferry.

As for me I live very close to San Juan, but I live in Trujillo Alto which is considered metroarea. Anyway I've traveled almost everywhere in PUerto Rico, Ponce is beautiful too. Anyway you dont get lost in Puerto Rico people are nice and they give you directions if you just ask (which shocked me the first time I visited PR because I was used to the NY grumpiness!!!!!!!!!!) I still have a little NY in me LOL

but if you do plan your visit to PR well ahead you could have a good good time. There's 2 seasons that are always good to enjoy Xmas and summer. Xmas there's a lot of parties, but no beach as they get dangerous to swim (you wont see locals swimming in xmas only crazy tourists or surfers!!!) and summer is a lot of activities and places to visit. El lecho se come todo el año!!!! lol

That ferry sounds wonderful. To see PR like that must be beautiful. It's funny because when I've mentioned to my husband that I want to go to PR, he tells me that PR is not the same anymore. It's bad out there because of the crime. I laughed and said, "What's worse than NY?" :lol

But he listens to family and I don't go by that. I told him that maybe where his family visits is bad. But not all of PR is.

Ok, I've been everywhere in PR and crime is worse in NY that's true and when you have that street smart from NY you can survive PR.

Anyway crime is everywhere in the world
if you're going to think like that then you'll never enjoy any kind of vacation. gotta take advise from family but enjoy it anyway
