NO RAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!AND PLEASE KEEP FREESTYLE to the FREESTYLE BEATS BASS,BREABEAT,and ELECTRO,I hate it when things they call FREESTYLE has a trance/house feel to it SucKs!!!!!!!!!!!It sounds like HINRG which I do not like!!!!!!The best sound is the combination of FREESTYLE/ELECTROCLASH that would be the best future for FREESTYLE!

Well if your in to traditional freestyle - yes thease new sounds might not work well with you, thats understandable-but if your in to progressive freestyle and breaks, chances are you DONT wanna hear something that sounds like a 1980's cover girls single.

whats funny is that the history of freestyle is and was singing over HIP HOP beats. It was latin hip hop before it was Freestyle. The form needs to continue to evolve no matter what genre it will tend to be inspired from next as long as the basis is freestyle. if its good product you will listen and love it. if it is not then you wont and will criticize. You cant please everyone. But we can keep trying to do what we love the most.

freestyle started with a rich back ground in hip hop...
when the hip hop beats got faster the girls or latin girls started singing ballads over break beats or rap records on a 45 rpm speed...
this also came around a time when disco was dying or really just evolving into house music and getting faster...in bpm's
now we are in a dilemma and hip hop and house music are mainstream while freestyle is in it's darkest days....
well disco reinvented itself into house music and rap came back as just straight hip hop..
maybe freestyle needs to do the same and get a fresh start.....
let's see: house music is faster now or should i say flying
rap or hip hop is flowing now for a change and some rap tracks even incorporate some old freestyle flavor into it...
freestyle is sampling planet rock and using techno sounds for orchestration......problem.......no time spent on production.......and when is this record gonna end because most peeps are tired of it considering it's been around since 1978(kraftwork) :afroman

now most peeps are referring to old and new school??????? :sbounce
why seperate them when you have strength in numbers...
if anything the old school should be supporting the new school and if they don't support them....then why talk about the old school?????they don't want to be here so let them go do whatever they want and we will keep our music true with the ones who support it 110%....
you also have to remember that most old freestyle was produced on analog systems and everything today is digital ....this makes a big difference in sound..

that dance seen is much faster now and if freestyle wants to compete, it would have to be at least 130bpm's or more......zoom zoom zoom.....

Could not agree more...............the future of freestyle lies in our hands, no one else gives a shit. dj legendphilly made some exellent points, I mean its 2004!!

Freestyle needs a new direction period!

I think Huey Dunbar's "sin poderte hablar" should be taken into consideration as the new possible sound for freestyle. It has that new age 'original' street latin hip hop sound as well as futuristic freestyle appeal chords that I feel our music shouldve evolved to.

whats your take on this freestyle remix?

http://www.hyf.com/old_hyf/hyf01/dfly/dfly.htm

its the freestyle song "jay and Jane" converted in to Breakbeat.

No matter how many freestyle DJ's spin that record or how many fan's praise it as freestyle, It will never be freestyle to me. "Jay & Jane" is a pop/breakbeat record.

Freestyle is Freestyle and it needs to evolve like all the other genres have. I like change for the good. No matter what I will always :dancingb to freestyle.

Pleeeeeeaaassseeee NO MORE PLANET ROCK

frankie , did you like that remix? I think it s tight, I mean the origanal is dope too but Im really fellin that remix. And its no question that the song is and always was progressive freestyle.

LaRissa's " Jay & Jane" is a perfect example of a never-ending debate as to what is considered Freestyle and what isn't. And to be honest with everyone, it's getting old and tired.

There will never be a solution as to whether it's Freestyle or not, and no one can claim it as such except for the writers/producers themselves.

We all think we know, but do we really? I could care less about what it should be called.

Personally, I think that track is hot and I still rock it 5 years later!

The song was definitely a success in the dance communtiy, and yes it was featured on a few Freestyle compilations, but who cares?

"Jay & Jane" brought bisexuality into the spotlight. If we all can't agree on one thing, let's agree on that.

I say we definitely need the change. New direction. And what better way of kicking things off in 2004 for that change.

But.......that doesn't mean that I will approve of anything thats new and out in the market that's freestyle.

......If you suck......I will tell you that you suck. This music's all about passion and good music.

That's the only way were gonna move forward. Peace.
