Can somebody please tell me what the world is coming to? First Tsunami, then the Mudslide in Cali and now the news said there's a new STD call LGV. What the hell? The world is just a total chaos!

I'm not sure that I agree that there is more to come, or that these are the "end times".
Every few hundred years or so, it always seems that there is a huge epidemic, or disaster that kills off major parts of the population. Pompei, Chicago Fire, Blizzards, earthquakes.
As for the mudslides, it is not the first, and won't be the last.
The new std, well, it wasn't too long ago that A.I.D.S. was the new std.

pretty scary stuff going on..just this wednesday..here
in chicago..people in chicago thought there was an earthquake
going on..even tho its chicago..but people heard a loud boom
and saw the town shake and the floor rip from under them..
no one knew what was going..apparently there was an underground

The Islands that make up Indonesia were created as a result of a collision of two "plates". There HAVE been many earthquakes, volcanoes (and the resulting tsunami) for millenia. One of the biggest explosions ever happened there in the late 1800s when an entire island exploded (Krakatoa volcano). Unfortunately now there are humans in the way of nature, just like there are people living in hurricane-prone Florida and in tornado alley.
Sh*t happens, I just hope it doesn't hurt people when it does.

After the October warning from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that a rare disease was infecting gay and bisexual men in Europe, health officials are now confirming that the disease has started to infect Americans.
The disease, called lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV) is a type of chlamydia that can lead to scarring of the genitals and cause lymph glands near the groin to swell or burst. If ignored, LGV can make those infected more vulnerable to hepatitis C and HIV. In rare cases, LGV can be fatal.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, patients from both Atlanta and San Francisco have been treated for LGV in San Francisco.
The first recorded outbreak of LGV among men who have sex with men took place in Rotterdam, Amsterdam, in December 2003.
None of the San Francisco patients have traveled to the Netherlands, leading health officials to believe there are other people in the United States who are carrying the disease and have not been treated.
All four San Francisco cases were gay men, some of whom also tested positive for HIV.
Sam Mitchell, an epidemiologist at the San Francisco Department of Public Health said the illness is easily treatable if discovered quickly.
"The idea is to knock it out quickly. If it circulates widely, it could be quite challenging," Mitchell told the San Francisco Chronicle.
Unlike the typical treatment for Chlamydia -- a single does of antibiotics -- patients with LGV usually undergo a three-week course.
Dr. Ken Haller, board member and former president of the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association (GLMA), said LGV symptoms can "appear anywhere from three to 30 days after it's transmitted. The thing is, the lesion can be inside the urethra or the rectum, so it could be undetectable."
Haller said LGV is transmitted sexually, although he did admit that it could be transmitted through kissing, since chlamydia could be spread that way as well.
"If you do have any burning when you urinate or discomfort during a bowel movement or swelling in the groin, you should see your doctor and you should bring up the possibility of LGV," Haller said. "Because it's just not on their radar."
