Pope Benedict XVI is already having issues, having just become pope.

In Spain, the gov't is passing a law, allowing gay marriage, and allowing gay people to adopt children.

Of course, the pope/vatican/church is against this. No surprise there.

However, Pope Benedict has issued a statement that gov't employees, who work in the court houses and adoption agencies should become "conscientious objectors", meaning they should refuse to perform their job functions, because it goes against their religious convictions, which could result in the people getting fired.

"This is not a matter of choice. All Christians must be prepared to pay the highest price, including the loss of a job."

So what I wanna know is, if a bunch of employees get fired, are the pope and their church gonna pay their bills for them?????

lmao.....

It's not even the "gay" aspect of the story.

I find it hard to believe that with the hard time people have in general with money and day to day expenses, the pope would honestly expect people to let themselves get fired.

Wow, im surprise he even said something like that. I understand in fighting for what you believe, but my first belief is putting food on the table and keeping a roof over my children head, so there is no way i would do anything to jeopardize my job.

i'd be like well now that daddy is fired forl istening to the church he must go live there say bye kids! (ok that was mean but damn)
