Ok, we always hear , "What do you want to be when you grow up?"

So just when did you grow up?

Some people think turing 18 or 21 is growing up. Or getting married, or having a child, or buying your first house. Moving into your own place.....

Some people never grow up.

Some people have a tragedy occur that makes them grow up earlier.......

So think about it and post here, when did you grow up?

I did very little growing as a person during years 1-27, which most people would agree are years of change.

I feel that it wasn't until New Year's Eve, 15 days before my 28th birthday, that I grew up.

That was the night that I came out to my friends, and told them I was gay.

It was also the night that started me down a new path. I became more positive, less bitter and angry. More focused on myself. I started to allow myself to move on from the past which haunted me, and move forward.

I'm still growing. I'm moving in a more positive direction, both physically, and mentally. I'm realizing that I am a good person. That I deserve respect and love, and that the misguided people from my past didn't know what they were saying when they abused me. I've learned to let most of it go, and move on, allowing me to develope as a person. I've also come to accept that the ish I was dealt in the past, helped me become the person I am now.

So....now that I'm off my soapbox....lol...who else wants to share? Let's see some stories, and find out more about each other......

I fell I've "matured" in the past few years... But I dont think I have or really will truly grow up... I mean what does growing up really mean?

I feel like you Soul. That's a question I could never understand. Now if you ask "When do you feel you became a responsible person?" now we talking....... :heee

i still have a side of me that hasnt "grown up" still a kid still the prankster.. but i know what youre getting at for me it was boot camp in the navy

well i guess i really grew up when i got divorced and had to live alone for the first time. but to me it is one of the many stages of "growing up."

I honestly beleive that we never stop "growing up".

After being an adult, no matter how old you are, or how mature, or immature u are, ..everyday we learn, or experience something new that becomes a part of our "growing" as a person in general.

Sometimes good things, & sometimes bad things.
But there is one thing that BOTH my Grandparents & Madonna taught me, & thats to: "Never grow old".

There should never be a limit to do the things that you really wanna do that make u happy.

Look at these active old seniors between ages 70-100+, that have their health (#1 in my book) & take care of themselves better than some younger people do, & are very active, adventerous, & still do what makes them happy - (even stripping at a club!)
Even at their age, they are still growing & learning.

In Madonna's words- (a few years before having her 1st child):

..."Not only do we suffer from raceism & sexism, but we also suffer from "Age-ism". And that is, that once you reach a certain age, people beleive you're not "allowed" to be adventurous, you're not "allowed" to be sexual,
....I mean, ..is there a "Rule"???
...What, - are you supposed to just "DIE" when you're 40???
Put yourself to "Pasture"????
And thats basically what everyone wants people to do, & I think it's stupid."

There was a time in my life where I was going through that sort of change in "growing up" like you say. Now I feel like im back down again crawling to get back to that point.

Sorry to disappoint anyone, but I'm not growing up ever. I'm 30 and have a 6 year old son, but I still have fun. Now I even have more fun than ever, I :love playing with my kid anything. I still wrestle with him, play video games, play basketball, ride bikes. While my hubby just sits and watches us. I guess he's doing the grwoing up for both of us and I'm still the little girl having fun.
