Let me introduce myself..I am mami chula lost somewhere in South Jersey..moved here a year ago and desperate to move back to NYC..Born in the Bronx and raised in Brooklyn I was exposed to salsa, merengue, and pop music.. Around 1987 or so,
I was deep into music, learning to mix, dj and all..loved to listen
to what was the old school rap today..grandmaster flash, big daddy kane, public enemy, special ed but at the same time I also was into the club scene.. I used to love Fri/Sat when Hot 103..remember that..used to play all freestyle..back when 98.7 Kiss used to play rap and 107.5 was not scared to hear a curse now and then...It was good back in the day..we had music raw , and straight to the point...Around 1988, I was at every club I could get into listening to Dj Animal, Scott Blackwell among others cut it on the turntable..Lets not leave out Jellybean..Sunday night, I was chilin out listening to the freestyle mix when I heard the new TKA single, When will I see you again..It was slamming..and I also got to hear that new cut by Sa-Fire and
Cynthia..I loved it..I think we are going to bring Freestyle back to
life. These are long time favorites, among many freestyle artist I loved to listen to back in the day...Its nice to see them back in action and hitting the charts with new, fresh music..Freestyle for me is special..I have so many memories of Roseland, Hearthrob,
Palladium, Funhouse, 10-18 ect..When I hear the music I just want to dance all night..Freestyle yes is back and here to stay..
