Ok here goes.
I do not say too much on the site. I post when I have an educated comment or when I know of a new freestyle song. But I have to be very honest on this one. I am tired of people putting down mainstream artsists for doing a freestyle type song and then having the nerve to even say the song is not freestyle. Case in point the new Gwen Stefani CD. There are 2 great freestyle tracks on the album. ALL FREESTYLE FANS on this site should SUPPORT a mainstream artist for putting 2 tracks on her CD like this. Let's all face it folks. There is not too much new freestyle out there PERIOD. Much less from an established artist like Gwen Stefani (ok not established as a solo artist but has been making music for years) We should call the radio stations and request the freestyle track from her album or send emails to the label explaining the tracks are freestyle and we love and support them. THEN MAYBE freestyle will get back into the mainstream again. In the past few years mainstream artists have been touching on freestyle: madonna - die another day, Britney spears - outrageous (remix), kelis and richard x, there are others i just cannot think of them

POINT: we all need to support freestyle wheather or not is from freestyle aritsts or mainstream artists as long as it promotes the freestyle cause. and we are in need of some freestyle support!

Do you not all agree with me?

sorry about the double post, please delete one. i must have hit the send button 2 times. forgive me

That is exactly the attitude that has led to freestyle dying a slow and agonizing death. Because of it's sad shape, fans feel like they are obligated to support every new freestyle track, whether it's good or not. (I'm referring to freestyle in general, not necessarily Gwen Stefani. I haven't heard any of her supposed new freestyle songs). This leads to producers and labels putting out more sub-standard crap because they know undemanding freestyle fans will accept it.

Call me old-fashioned, but I believe in artists earning my respect. The onus is not on me to support new freestyle; the onus is on new freestyle to earn my support.

You are missing the point...........there arent even crappy freestyle tracks out there for us to decide if we like them or not.

If there were then we could be more picky!@!!

what are the 2 new tracks by gwen?? i only know of the new song tick tock by her.

^^ isnt it "what you waiting for" not tick-tock?

i agree with ultimix2003, it really shouldnt matter what record label is releasing freestyle and such. what if a freestyle dj dropped one of gwen's songs in the middle of a freestyle set & we didnt kno it was gwen, even the haters would love it. it's good music whoever it's by. if other artists are expanding their musical styles, then good for them & we should support it. come on freestyle's dying already & all of us are waiting for a big rebirth.
MAYBE THIS IS THE REBIRTH, some of you people need to stop being so UPTIGHT & stop whining about it.. that its not the old-fashioned producers doing it it's the newer non-freestyle ones. so WHAT YOU WAITING FOR? this is it, our time to shine once again. freestyle was in the mainstream in the 80s and we're at that 20-year cycle again so everyone needs to enjoy it & stop whining. when disco came back in the mainstream in the 90s, were the old-time disco diehards whining about it? these are good times for us!

well said.........i agree lets support these mainstream artists......BUT we have to let the labels and radio stations know this.............

call your local radio station and badger them to play what you waiting for by gwen stefani............the song has not been released but if enough people ask for it stations have been known to place an unreleased song and it then get released by a label. and who knows maybe a slammin sam or carlos berrios or even an adam marano (ok maybe not) could get to do a remix of it.

Well I don't know who to agree with here...

So lets do it how its always done in this great country of ours...

Vote on it...

We the people made freestyle what it was, is and is to come...
The singers just sing it for us!

If you think Gwen's two new tracks are Freestyle then say "Rubia Pharmacetica Rocks!"
If not say "Vete para el Carajo!"

Nuff said!!!

I have yet to hear them so I can't vote yet...

THANKS ULTIMIX!!! YOU ARE RIGHT...IF A DJ DID DROP ONE OF HER TRACKS AND NO ONE KNEW IT WAS HER THEY WOUDN'T COMPLAIN!!! HONESTLY I AM VERY PLEASED WITH WHAT SHE HAS DONE! AND HOPEFULLY SHE WILL BE THE ONE TO BRING BACK FREESTYLE...BECAUSE BACK HOME IN SAN ANTONIO IT DIED OUT YEARS AGO...AND THEY SURE AS HE** DON'T KNOW WHAT FREESTYLE IS HERE IN COLORADO SPRINGS!!!!!!!!...LOL....

Hey!

Here's some good news to clear the monotony (Or however u spell it!)

There's been a few restaurants in Philadelphia and NYC that have Freestyle music playing while I entered up until I finished my main course (and it was big!)

Could this actually be the rebirth???

fingers are crossed!!!

Heard a rumor that Club SPIRIT in Manhattan started throwing Freestyle on Fridays (Not all night though! But little by little we will get there!)

It's not a rebirth if they're only playing old school 80s freestyle (which I'm guessing is the case). As the retro 80s continue to return to popularity, it's natural that the old freestyle classics will regain popularity as well.

But the issue here is not 80s freestyle. The issue is how do we improve new/current freestyle. Only then will we have a true rebirth.
