Thumbs up to KQMQ 93.1 In HAWAII !!

Wanna give a shout out to this station in Hawaii for helping to keep freestyle alive. Though it is billed as a 80's station, if you look at the songs in rotation, they list SWEET SENSATION, NICE & WILD, COVER GIRLS, STEVIE B, SEDUCTION, LISA LISA, etc....

i don't think they add new freestyle, but at least they are keeping freestyle alive in hawaii.

Yeah KQMQ is cool, they used to play freestyle before they went to 80's, the reason they ended up going to 80's music was because another station hit the airwaves in Honolulu that is owned by the same corporation known as 102.7 Da Bomb. Which meant that there were 4 rythmic stations in Honolulu at one time so they had to drop atleast one since there were none really focusing on the 80's. Now there are 3 rythmic stations in Honolulu but since the 90's and the end of most new freestyle music most have turn to R&B/Hip Hop but I-94 still plays freestyle once in a while, not as much as they used to. I-94 & Wild 94.9(San Fran) are very similar other than the fact that they are owned by the same corporation they have very close ties, usually when the bay area drops the sounds of new artists in there area I-94 ends up playing them too like other little known artists outside of the bay and hawaii like Kai, Rysche', Innerlude, Pinay, Voices of Theory, One Voice, etc. Freestyle was very big in Hawaii for a long time basically since it first came out and hopefully it makes another come back soon.
