As we know, for the last 5 years, the music industry has been a a huge slump. Record sales down, radio listenership down, Video rotation has been low, concert sales horrible!! I ask you the music fan; what are some things you would change about the music industry?

Here is what I would change.

1. Top 40, Urban Contempary, HOT AC, mainstream Rock stations should widen their playlists and lengthen their rotations

2. Concert promoters needs to lower ticket prices.

3. MTV and VH1 need to have two hour prime time shows of Music Videos (8-10)

4. Record Companies needs to lower CD prices

5. Record Stores needs to be a little more like; sell more books and have cafes/coffee bars and have weekly live local bands perform

6. Online/CD Burning sites needs to sell big downloading packages.

Mike, I definitely agree with you on many of your points. MTV and VH1 definitely need to start showing more music videos. There is way too much crap and reality shows on those channels. They have completely lost their focus from what those stations were originally intended to be..such as, um....MUSIC television!
I also agree with you on what radio stations should do..they are way too repetitive and it makes listeners tune out instead of tuning in. Plus the music industry needs to be more varied again. There is way too much of one genre or another. Like right now rap and R&B are dominating the charts. It definitely needs to be more varied.
I also agree with you on ticket prices. Why do we have to pay ridiculous amounts of money to get a decent seat at a venue?
I also agree with you on cd prices. Nobody wants to pay $14 or so for a cd...especially if they are buying it for a few songs.

Excellent points Mike!!

very good points mike i agree mtv sure does need to play music as it was meant for, not stupid shows. same with cd prices, why buy cd's nowadays when you can download.

One thing that I've said should happen is that a club should have a cd store it in. Then, when an artist plays at the club, their cds could be sold at the club.

Imagine being able to go to a freestyle show, and getting cds from Latin Nation, Synthia Figueroa, Ashley, Cover Girls, and others......

I love the thinking here. great point Chuck

Record stores needs to hire people who are music fans and know something about music instead of a bunch of stone out college kids who act like Ricky Williams.LOL. XM Radio has been big with music, you hear more of the artist that are great to hear, smae with Music Choice.
