i think it sounds pretty much like freestyle..it seems to be like a slower freestyle song though.. mtlmangas - are you greek? i was in montreal in january with like a hotel full of people (intercollegiate ski trip)... if you want, im me...my screen name is E33P, or email me(aol.com)🙂
FreestyleFreak I have summer jam but I'm curious as to how old it is?
Elayne yes I am Greek and I sent you an E-mail but I'm not sure of you're E-mail adress.
These Underdog people who are they?
I thought they were German but their video looks like Vancouver? Are they Canadian because I hear them on much every 10 minutes. And do they know their singing Freestyle?
I have the cd and the song is hot. It is definately freestyle. It's different then regular freestyle but man, that guy's voice is so hot.I think it is farely new. I have to check the back of my cd but I think it was either 1999, or 2000.
The single "Tonight" has been released last year, as the album too(out in October 2000).
It's the second single from this German band which is extremely famous in Germany and now in Europe thanks to the first single "Summer Jam".

-from France-
I've seen them on German sights.
But now the song is relly popular here in Montreal I hear it on tv,tthe radio and in clubs and tyhe crowd goes crazy.
It's become verry main stream.
the people here in Germany say to stuff like the Underdogproject it sounds like 2-Step.
It means it has a 2-Step Beat and is kinda Freestyle.
There are a lot more stuff out like this.
Down Lown has a new one it´s called "Dont you"
and there are 2-Step Sampler out as well.
to me , it duznt sound like twostep at all. i mean, twostep is that drum n bass and garage inspired kind of music, i mean, the underdog project may not be fresstyle in the strict sense, but it's in any case freestyle rather than twostep. http://balder.prohosting.com/underd/songtexte.htm
you all are right.
The Music-Styles are different in many Countrys.
I heard a lot of Freestyle Songs with Trip-Hop Versions on it. And it sounds like Hi-Energy Freestyle but when you listen to Trip-Hop stuff here in Germany it sounds very different.
Underdog-Project and some others might be a New-Genre of Freestyle but as i wrote: In Germany it is under the 2-Step genre.
Peter
really? anyway, i the UK it wouldn't be called 2step...
but then again, stuff like that is difrnt from country to country... new jack swing was called swingbeat in germany, and today, rapcore is called crossover in the german speaking world... (which includes my home town, basel)
you'll find some info on 2step @ www.garage.co.uk
trip hop: well - on the one hand, there are rock bands who use soul and hip hop in their music like Portishead and Ruby.
on the other hand check out Mo Wax releases - more hip hop influenced, mainly instrumental stuff...
It's so odd that you posted this topic because i was just thinking that. Yeah, i think the song has a real freestyle beat. The lyrics aren't really freestyle, but the beat, without a doubt it. Only if it were a little stronger. But yeah, interesting observation.
