As this thread has taken a left turn from support to sound and airply.....I can add my 4 cents.....

I recently purchased a few rock cd's to see if freestyle was indeed the only genre suffering from sounding too much alike.

Red hot chili peppers.....except for a few songs they all sound the same...same sounds songs............2 million + sold

Nickleback............all the songs sounded the same....some slow and and some fast...........4 million + sold

Linkin Park.........sound similar..........4 million + sold

Cold Play.....a little bit better then the previous mentioned.......still sounded the same since they all use the same instruments............3 million + sold

Evanecense......One of my favorite cd's to date....sounds like hard core freestyle if you ask me......but again, alot of the songs sound the same..........5 million plus sold

All these cd's basically stuck to a formula that rock has been using for the last 15 years....1 or two radio freindly songs and the rest of the album sonds the same. Mybe a different tempo here and there but there are only so many ways to make a guitar sound different. A drum kit is always gonna sound the same. Bass is Bass except with a some extra top end on it. So don't tell me that the reason freestyle doesn't sell is because it sounds the same.

And we won't even touch on the genre of country that basically sounds the same for the last 30 years.

wanna know why they sound simalar? they use simple instruments and they dont rely on all the computers, synths and 808's!

But you are wrong where they havent changed. the vocals for these groups are totally different from a rock song from 1990. the pitch, the tone.....ALL DIFFERENT.

you cant compare LINKON PARK to GUNS N ROSES. Are you telling me AXL ROSE voice sounds the same as the lead singer of LINKON PARK? and their guitar riffs?

HELL NO!

how about the drummer in METALICA? Thats sounds the same as NIKLEBACK?

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS sounds have changed dramatically since thier glory days. same thing with AEROSMITH.

the reason why these classic names in rock are still around today is because there is creativity and a need to change with the times. . nothing stays the same.

One perfect example of a song that changed was ROBERT PLANT;S "TALL COOL ONE" from the 80s'. anyone remember that? it had been over 10 years since he recorded a rock tune and all they did was get the vocals current and put some mixing in the music and *PRESTO*!

also PETE, just because ONE STATION plays a song does not mean its getting MAJOR AIRPLAY.

Major airplay for a song is when you hear it on more than one station.

Most of the freestyle songs that PARTY 105 played found its way to KTU but only into mixes with NO ROTATION.

I agree with Kenny " The Italian Stallion" on this one ;
