I've only been a member on these boards for a week or so but i think its time to make some waves. I wanna know where is the talent in freestyle music. I've been listening to freestyle as long as i can remember. It was the music of my youth. There was really nothing else that i would listen to in those days. Then something happened. The talent completely left the music!!! Freestyle nowadays is horrid. Thats why radio doesn't respect it enough to give it airplay. Back in the day no one sounded alike. Every group, every singer had their own unique style. The freestyle of today is the exact opposite!! You don't know how sickening it is to hear planet rock beats on every song in a freestyle album. Also i hate the fact that i can sing lyrics to a song i've never heard before. They seem to be written by infants. I doubt freestyle will ever return to its former glory. The Tka/ George Lamond thing sounds like a good start, but thats all it is, a start. The new artist have to chip in and get their acts strait. I'm curious if i'm the only one feeling like this or is there anyone else out there that shares my opinion.

hmmmm this topic has been discussed or shall i say debated countless times, u shouldve posted this in the freestyle music forum cuz this is not the forum for it, im sure it will be moved by a moderator neways
personally i like both new and old skool...

yeah and honestly im kinda sick of it lol...but im sure someone will be willing to respond to ur question...

I agree that Freestyle of the last 10 years doesn't hold a candle to the 80's and early 90's. The reason is because, back in the day, most of the top producers and writers in dance music were doing freestyle (it was the hot sound of the day). But as the 90's progressed, most of the best producers started to gravitate toward house, euro, trance, etc. Freestyle suffered as a result.

There are still some very talented people doing freestyle now, but the substandard records seem to sometimes drown out the good ones (mostly because they outnumber them).
