Because everyone around here likes to be evasive and never answer the questions regarding TKA's new album FOREVER straight-up, here is the breakdown of the album...

1. FEEL THE MUSIC - House
2. BETTER THAN THE REST - House
3. U DON'T FEEL IT - Pop with a Latin feel to it
4. WHEN WILL I C U - Breakbeat/Dance (NOT A FREESTYLE MIX)

And just in case you missed it on Tuesday (11-6-01) here is what I had to say about TKA's latest album...

I bought the new TKA album today. 13 tracks in all and I have to ask myself was spending $13.00 of my hard earned money worth only 1 (possibly 2) Freestyle songs - My answer...NO!!!!!

So after over a year of hype, speculation and disappointment - one of the many things we have heard from the TKA camp was that this album was made to re-establish the group and there will be another album to follow sometime in 2002 that will be strictly for TKA's hardcore Freestyle fans - unless plans have changed, I would like to see them stick to their word!

That is all I have to say, I had already prepared myself for disappointment but at least the inclusion of "IN A MANNER" and "SEXUAL FANTASY" helped to soften the blow...

Thank you so much for a real answer to a simple question that many have had but no one had the guts to answer. It's a good thing i didn't get the album cuz I'd be pissed about there only being 2 freestyle songs.

Is "IN A Manner" a "real" freestyle song (like the old skool) or is it one of them check swing kinda deals (where technically it might be freestyle, but it sounds nothing like the old school). How "new skool" is "Sexual Fantasy". I only like old skool style freestyle. Would I like either of these songs?

THANK YOU RHOQ! Now I don't have to worry about what I am buying. I don't mind a variety and I doubted that they would do a total R&B album but after reading some of the posts people make it seem it is all R&B.

why do people here decide that ."well if it aint freestyle according to my standards then i aint havin it" or "its not good music unless its old school/newschool...i thought people could be more openminded.. instead we have people bouncing from thread to thread professing to be self appointed free style police..judge and jury....musical professionals in thier own minds!!! i believe the definition of freestyle is the artist having the freedom to express his/her style.. a form of dance music with its own twist... i dont claim to be an expert ..however if FOREVER is not a freestyle album then i must be listening to a different version..becuase the CD i got has nothing but the soul of freestyle in every song..and even if it didnt its good music period..we have enough politics in our everyday life why bring it into the things that we enjoy...like our love of music..and finally if you can stand there shaking your fist up at the" freestyle gods "and screaming i hate this album its not freestyle becuase i say so ...well then go sit down write some lyrics..make some beats..get in the studio..and produce something to prove your point...a freestyle album that will show others how its done...because until you can do all that..you should remain humble and quiet.. 😉
 
yeah i still havent heard the album but im amazed at the amount of people on here that want the group to revisit their heyday 15 years ago.... how can you expect them to have the same sound??? music has evolved folks, no one putting out music in late 80's early 90's is gonna have the same sound as before and if they did, they would not sell at all... again i have not heard the album yet, but im not gonna listen to it and expect scars of love, louder than love, or any of that type of music.... that was 10+ years ago folks, move on with your lives jeez.....
 
i dont think theres anything wrong with the album...you people wanted tkato get back together and they did and now you all dont show them any love cuz its not a repeat of the 80's?? i think the new album is worth every penny and all you people that are complaing about it must be stuck in the 80's , i mean, is old skool freestyle the ONLY music you listen to??? dont get me wrong i LOVE freestyle but its not all i listen to! much love to TKA , no matter what you sing , youve got my support!! peace!
 
the problem is not enough

here's the thing Michael...it's not that freestyle is the ONLY music us "old schooler" listen to..it's b/c...it's ALL we have left of that type of music. I have a huge music library, I am a DJ & MC for the largest music & entertainment company in Westchester & I love ALL kinds of music from Frank Sinatra to DMX. the bottom line here is that some of us were looking for Freestyle, "the way it used to be"...PERIOD.
Take a listen to Judy Torres Freestyle on KTU sunday nights..& tell me what you hear. even the "new" artists & songs that get air play..they have that original freestyle flavor...soul!
that IS what freestyle is about. YES music evloves..fine do something new..Gerge Lamond did an awesome latin album, Lil suzy opened a nail salon...BUT don't push this album as leading the way of a new freestyle..call it what it is...R&B, some House..w/ a latin feel.
I truly hope that they do have a freestyle album in 2002 for the HARDCORE FREESTYLE fans.
I'll bet anyone on this board that the freestyle album outsells Forever...GUARANTEED!
 
wow, thank u for breaking it down for the people who seem to care about what kind of sound the songs have, but does it matter!!!! Well anyhows, maybe after the breaking down, people would stop asking... I feel like crying everytime I see hateful threads bout TKA, and about people complaining about "Its not Freestyle, so F*ck the albulm!!"...lol..So cruel I say...Dammit, where is my mom !!!???...lmao

Who cares...*and this post is directed to KNOW ONE* so, the album is " A-ight" but dammit, not everyone in this world is gonna be happy. I'm feelin' the album...it's new, it's fresh...it's freakin' music! freestyle or not. We all have to hear a wide variety of music...and TKA is makin' it happen the way they did for pop/dance music which is "FREESTYLE". I can say that the songs i've listened to on their album is the music we hear in the CLUBS! so, change is good...look at SHANIA TWAIN...FAITH HILL...crossin' over but never forgettin' where they started...sheesh, i was playing around with the turntables at my boys party as he took a break and i just popped in my TKA album and bang, peeps were diggin' it...so what's la problema? to me nothin', just peeps dancin' to tracks that'll rock the house...so i played their FEEL THE MUSIC single and yup, i had to play a classic FREESTYLE track or two, which i had in my cd player, and dang what a feel i had when the crowd there just put there hands up and sang to the couple of songs i played while my boy came back...*of course he began putting LA BACHATA, AND SALSA, MERENGUE AFTERWARDS, lol* I missed that feel...but it was again with me when i played those few hitssssss..I gotta remember to get my TKA stuff autographed.

"IN A MANNER" has the same sort of vibe as "LOUDER THAN LOVE", although it is much more electronic in sound. "SEXUAL FANTASY" is very New School - hip-hop beats, non-traditional vocal arrangement. To consider this song Freestyle would be a matter of opinion, I happen to think it is Freestyle...

taezee - it is all well and good that you can feel the soul of Freestyle in every song on this album, but that doesn't make it Freestyle!

As far as politics goes, this very site is just about as political as they come!

Just as I told Joey Gardner over a year and a half ago when "WHEN WILL I SEE YOU AGAIN" was first recorded: I have the lyrics, beats and melodies ready to go!!!

So now, Taezee, if you would like to finance a Freestyle project conceived, written and arranged by yours truly - I guarantee you that I can give Freestyle fans everywhere just what they have been missing and craving for a very long time!!!

But Taezee, I thank you for proving to me that I am not wanted nor appreciated here, so I will return to my self-imposed isolation, where I am always quiet and mostly humble....

yo if you got it like that ..then why remain quiet..blast it out..show us "what it is"...but if you can only express youre talent in words on this post then whats the point?? words are words and ideas are ideas until ACTION is taken to become reality... if your ideas and music are that good then someone in the industry will say WOW we got something here lets put this out...but until its heard and felt then in that chamber of solace and humility and unrecognized potential you will remain...break those chains brother and make it happen..for if you remain in a state of "well if my shit would come out people would see"..then you will continue to reminise of what could have been just like i might reminise "i could have been a doctor..or a lawyer" but becuase i havent become either.. or... i cannot be critical as to how a doctor should preform a sugery procedure.. or how a lawyer should handle a certain case..becuase hes actually doing it while i am just dreaming of how i would do it... if i had the same ACHIEVMENT as him (finishing med school or passing the bar)..otherwise words remain words and ideas remain ideas and eventually fade into a nothingness of what could have been...

i think "When Will I C U" is freestyle. that one & "In A Manner" (doesnt kinda remind u of a new school "Running") are the 2 only freestyle cuts on there. "Sexual Fantasy" is more breakbeat to me.
 
TKA - Forever

I just got the new TKA/Forever CD--even though I told myself I wouldn't--and it's as bad as I anticipated!

There were only 1 and 1/2 FreeStyle songs on the CD. How can you have 1/2 a FreeStyle song you might ask. Well, that's because I'm going back and forth with one of the songs, since it's hard to pin down whether or not it's FreeStyle.

Lucky for me, I only paid $6.99 for the CD: $8.99 minus $2.00 (because of a coupon I had). I was lucky enough to find it used. No, I wasn't sold a promo, either. It appears the CD's first owner had sold his once-new CD to the used CD shop I was in...and the Forever CD was just released this past Tuesday. That the Forever CD was disposed of in less than a week should serve as testament to the bitter disappointment many FreeStyle fans will feel with the new TKA.

I will always be grateful for the superb FreeStyle songs TKA gave me in the past, but now, it appears their best days have passed them by, at least for FreeStyle, that is.

It's sad to see middle-aged men trying to be like the Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync.

TKA is twice as better as those freakin groups out there. Dont you even try comparing them to those wannabe hispanics. And I say that cause have you heard N'sync lately!!! They try so hard, its disgusting! And here we go again with the damn " it hardly has Freestyle songs"...Is that the only reason for buying there albulm, is to hate on them and complain for the fact that it doesnt have what YOU want....So childish!...😡

as for the GRAPPLERS statement on buying the cd at a used cd store, there could be a number of reasons you found it there, other than someone returning it because it was no good. one reason could be that it may have been stolen. maybe out of someones car or someone went on a shoplifting spree at their local WIZ or TOWER RECORD and went to the cd store to make some quik ca$h. another scenario could be that maybe the 1st owner recieved it as a gift and he wasnt just into these groups anymore and returned it. who knows. just giving some extra thoughts here!
