The New York Music Awards are back!!

NYMA was a huge supporter of freestyle/dance music. Many of our pioneers of freestyle were nominated in various catagories.

Past winners of New York music awards include SAFIRE, BRENDA K. STARR & CORINA.

I attended the NYMA back in 1989 - that year SAFIRE performed "THINKING OF YOU" and had the entire audience loving her.

That year the show was sponsered by WPLJ, and hosted by ROSIE O'DONNELL and LISA LISA -

it was a great show.....

I think for any freestyle artists to be nominated they need to have some hits out this year. 🙁

and how is that supposed to happen if they aren't getting the expoxure they need? That really sucks.

yes i doubt if any freestyle artist will be nominated - the nominations may already be out since the event takes place next month.
