I began writing and singing since 93. Been crazy
I think in order for freestyle to make it make to mainstream, they need to blend more hip-hop and loose that Planet Rock sample. If an artist can get a feature like...Fat Joe, Ja-Rule or even an unknown with bad ass skillz and make it raw. I'm not sayin' for freestyle to go "BLING or GANSTA", but to make it real.

Kay...your in NY. How hard would it be to feature FAT JOE on track. Is this something you and your company could work on. You gotta good deep voice when you sing. Laydown a hip-hop track with a freestyle bassline, a tight ass hook and 16 bars of rap. I bet you'll get crazy airplay.

and then where do you include the latino? tell fat joe to rap in spanish?

The last thing Freestyle needs is a big name rapper to talk about his bitches, smoking a blunts and busting caps in people's asses in the middle of a Freestyle song!

That's not all hip-hop's about. Why does a freestyle song always got be about "She left me...I don't know what to do". Freestyle needs to make changes and evolve with time. Why do you think hip-hop, rock, country, tejano...is still around? Because they moved on. How could some freestyle fans not want their music to grow. What do you consider "REAL" freestyle... 1990 material?

I get what you're saying dmstilo...it's a nice thought...however, while freestyle has roots in hip hop (old school..MUCH different)....many believe the new hip hop needs to stay far away from freestyle! lol BTW, freestyle is as REAL as it gets. It's NOT about FAKE cars, hoes, etc etc...no fake images in freestyle...what's more real than love and heartache?

Please don't get many of us wrong...it's just that us fans have a tight bond with the sound we know and love....for the past 20 years. I've said it countless times and I'll say it one more time for you....Freestyle is a SUB genre...change it too much, it aint freestyle....same goes for a SUB genre like techno. Change it if you want, but not too much.

first of all hiphop isnt rap hip hop evolved into rap wich today is very succesfull by selling anything with the word !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i hope freestyle stays underground and true and not get fame and turn up beneath the pop section for example like "rap"

How can I say this nicely....lol....put it this way, you can all want freestyle to become infused into the new hip hop all you want..but it aint gonna happen! Ideas thrown on a board isn't going to make it happen...thank God! Now go listen to your latest hip hop cd and keep dreaming :heee

i can see it now-a freestyle/hip hop remix from tka f/ noreaga.....with produced by the neptunes...what?!!? that would be some hot sh*t righ there LOL!
word
M A R L O N

Some fans need to move on from the past. Don't get me wrong. Old skool freestyle was great for it's time...but what about now. You say freestyle needs to stay underground...do you think the artists feel the same way you do? If it stays underground any long than what it already is...we might as well just remember it as what it was and move on.

the breeze is a freestyle track...yet the artists rap...and that was a big hit. so it can work...just keep drugs/bitches/hos out of it....and no sampling 70's and 80's music

honestly freestyle is fine as is. thats y we like it cuz of the way it is now. and who cares if freestyle is not in the mainstream. in a way im happy about it cuz look at hip hop and pop its so commercialized and crappy now cuz its all out there. do u really want a fate like that for freestyle music. its fine as is!

When God Created The Freestyle Music He Created Perfection!!!!!!!!!!!
