I suggest everyone here posts a reply saying wether or not they want Tony Monaco to diversify what he plays on the freestyle frenzy. Once we get enough replies, I'll email him with the URL so he can check it out. I personally think he keeps playing the same old songs over and over. He should seriously concider rotating the song list (!!!!) .

So what do you guys think??
 
Well... it's pretty much the same songs all the time. And what kills me is that I heard a freestyle remix of JENNIFER LOPEZ!!! That just made me cry. What's next!? 🙁
 
I think Tony plays what (the majority of)people want to hear.... if people wanna hear a freestyle remix of Jennifer Lopez.. i guess that's what he'll play... BUT!!!! the freestyle frenzy should be trying to PROMOTE and KEEP freestyle ALIVE!!!!! He should play some of the REAL freestyle...... so i understand both sides.. another other opinions
are you upset about what tony does? and why?

I agree, it's the same 5 or 6 songs every week, and there is always a Stevie B song every show, talking about overkill. But it's not so much the variety, it's also those remixes I can't stand of pop/dance songs.
If the song was not originally made to be a freestyle song, then it isn't freestyle so it shouldn't be played at all on that show.

All in all, I like Tony Monaco. Why? Because he's trying his hardest to keep freestyle alive, and that's something that should be respected. I thank him for his effort and all. I just wish his freestyle frenzy show was a little more varied, that's all. And keep to the freestyle songs, no pop or hip hop remixes. You know how many times they play those exact same songs during the whole day??! It's come to a point where I can't see a difference between 92.5 and 103.5 - hip hop and pop all day!! And 1 more thing, Stevie B is great and all, I love his music, but maybe we can have 1 show without You Are The One ?? hehe 😛

I'm not dissing tony monaco, I think he's a great guy for trying so hard to keep freestyle alive, but I just think that his show can be a lot better than what it is now...

The Toronto scene is oversaturated with the same beats/breadowns/planet rock/1987 "play it over & over" again type of songs!!! We as avid freestyle listeners should try to hunt down the new stuff, the good stuff! Then, as my post on the "Canada" message board says GOT A NEW SONG? IS IT WORTH FINDING? Post up what you think is worth listening to. Maybe we can get a good enough list of tracks to suggest to Tony so he can check them out for himself or reply to his "fans" demands for more diversity. After all, he does and has gone to greater lengths to keep the freestyle sound alive north of the 42nd parallel more than anyone else in Canada! The freestyle sound is once again underground in Canada, with more diversity to the "Frenzy" WE can better the beats up here ourselves! After all, I thaught that I listen to good "current" stuff but as I've recently learned...there is sooo much more out there!
YES! THERE "IS" LIFE AFTER STEVIE B and LIL SUZY!
Now guys don't get me wrong! They've got great stuff and I love listening to them but EESH is right diversity can make the show better!

There are two ways of facing this dilema;
1) Bitch and complain about the current freestyle in Canada.
(continue to be a part of the problem)

OR...

2) Try to crank out some better way to get CURRENT AND GOOD freestyle up here (find it ourselves) by checking out amazing sites like this (props to the crew @ CF.com) or other freestyle sites, compile a list of songs that you want to hear on the "Frenzy" and suggest them to Tony.
(Try OUR best to fix the problem)

As for myself, I've lost a lot of interest in listening to the "Freestyle Frenzy" show lately due to the repitition of overplayed songs. I too want more, current and better freestyle!

What is with you? Freestyle is underground? HUH?? Can I ask where you live, because it sure isn't in Toronto. If it was underground it wouldn't get ANY airplay on a major radio station, nor would Tony be mentioned in here at all. Yes sometimes, the show gets repetitive sometimes, BUT those are the songs people are asking to hear. You're posting in here, have you considered emailing the man yourself with your requests? I have a friend that sat in on a show one sunday and he said that Tony was going mad crazy. The phones were ringing off the hook with requests for Stevie B and all the known freestyle. And Tony makes every effort to get allt he songs played, if he can't do it then he writes down the request and plays it on his next show.

First of all...

First of all, the Freestyle Frenzy is recorded, so the the phones can't be busy! If you've ever called in to participate in a contest, Tony doesn't pick up the phone! All of the phone in requests are taped from the previous weeks freestyle requests. Ever notice that Tony is always at a "live on location" broadcast either immediately before or immediately after the show? Boy you're pretty taken by this whole show!
As for you querries about my locale, east end (high concentration of europeans out this end=lots of freestyle listeners)

1) Underground, o.k my bad for using such a complex term... what I meant was that CURRENT freestyle isn't a part of the local radio stations' playlist. Much of it is very commercial almost Euro. Notice the new freestyle that is posted on these boards, web based playlists, or out of town web broadcasts isn't heard here in T.O.

2) Z103.5 is the ONLY major local radio station that has incorporated freestyle into their playlist/production scheme.

3) Airplay? A 1 hour a week show of the same "tidbit" songs that we heard last week? Repitition is probably the only format "glitch" to the Freestyle Frenzy.(Props to Tony, yu're doin' a Great Job!!!) But...we need newer, more and better freestyle beats!

4) I've e-mailed, faxed and called in requests! I'm a dedicated freestyle listener/supporter to Tony and his show!
(check out the inlay to your "Freestyle Frenzy vol/3 CD" and Tony has recognized this...The Evil Gino...yours truly!

I hope that this has cleared up any confusion of the last post I left! (I'm not taking anything away from Tony but the show is getting boring and I hope that he gets light of newer stuff as does EESH!)

Tony plays what the majority people want since the majority of people only know Stevie B, Lil' Suzy, Rockell, and all the other big names. I know that for a fact cuz only me and another one of my friends know all the old school artists along with the new comers too. Everyone else I talk to only know the big titles. I think in order to promote freestyle, he should play more rare songs. That would not only extend his representation of freestyle music, but it would also add diversity to his play list.

Again, I'm not knocking Tony Monaco down. He's a great guy, I give him mad props for his hard work. I just thought his freestyle frenzy show could use a little change for the best, that's it.

Trust me, you don't want to start so I suggest you don't.

As for whether or not the show is recorded, it is occasionally, I am not disputing that, BUT there are times when it is live. Otherwise how did my friend sit in on a show and watch the man work his magic. Apparently your reading glasses are broken, you have selective reading or you chose not to address that point because it doesn't fit into your argument. And so what if the show is recorded? What the hell does that have to do with the phones? They don't ring because the show is recorded? What are you smoking?

You say you email him and all and you're mentioned on his inlay goodie for you. Has he played any of your requests or at least emailed you back if he couldn't? I'm assuming he must have for you to be mentioned on his inlay. As for being taken by his show, not really. I listen to it when I can but I am most often tutoring my students at that time and listening to his show while I teach the intricacies of English and French grammar or the socio-economic effects of the global political situation on today's society doesn't really tie in.

I support Tony and his show because he is doing what others haven't to date. And in case you haven't been listening they do play freestyle on other days than just sunday, but you have to be listening to hear it.

As for mixing it up and putting different freestyle on the show, I'm all for that. But you need more than one hour for that. He would need 2-3. Look at the sunday nite show on KTU here. Johnny only gets to spin the new stuff or the old rare stuff then, and Judy spins all the Stevie B, Lil Suzy etc music that everyone requests. If she didn't do that on her end then JohnnyB would have to incorporate some of that into his end of the show, because as a good DJ he attends to ALL his listeners' needs.

I agree with when you say he needs more than an hour. It would be great if they'd give him 2 hours, and yeah, that would allow him to diversify his play list. But still, there are things he can change even with that 1 hour of playtime that will make it a lot better.

Another thing, guys, chill out. I just wanted to see what people think of the freestyle frenzy show and if everyone agreed that it's sort of getting repetitive. Take it eeeeeeeaaaasssyyyyy
 
I think tony is doing an alright job of keeping freestyle alive, but i agree with some of the posts, althought i don't think listening to a Jennifer lopez remix is what freestyle is all about that's what the people want to hear. BUT the one thing that i'm sure of is Tony only plays the same songs over and over, what about all the other great songs??? He has to do something about that

Some people just started off on the wrong foot with me and I don't like the assumptions they make, nor the bull they try to start!
And as a female, I really resent the fact that the minute we get a little angry or indignant men think we are on the rag. If that was the case then does it mean you all get your periods too? If so it would explain A LOT! WWI, WWII, I'm gonna give you a little advice because you're a friend. Don't say stuff like that to chix, especially ones you're dating because either a) if you're lucky she's not on it and she'll bitch you out large, or b) she is on it and you'll wish you lived in another hemisphere after that comment.
Guys can be crust asses whenever they want but a girl must be on her period if she is being a crust ass? I don't think so. I just had some valid comments to make and I wasn't bitchy. I did take exception to a comment someone in here posted and I responded to it briefly and went on.

IF EVERYONE HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE PLAYLIST GO TO TONY'S WEB PAGE AND GIVE YOUR OPINION AND TELL HIM WHAT YOU WANT TO HEAR, BUT PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT EVERYONE CAN'T BE PLEASED!! I don't see what the problem is, I was in London, Ontario for the weekend, but on the drive back to Ottawa, I happened to be driving through the stretch of Toronto at around 5 and I was listening to the frenzy for the first time since the christmas break. I didn't think it was bad at all, I acutally didn't know a couple of the songs that were played, and I wouldn't mind knowing what they were. The playlist in my opinion is exactly what the people want to hear. He's not going to play hardcore oldschool freestyle that most people don't know, he going to play what people want to hear, cuz most freestyle songs grown on you in a way. I'm going to admit, there are a lot of shongs that I hear for the first time and don't think its that great, but after listening to it a couple of more times I start liking it. Actually if you guys could help me out, is there any way I can get the playlist for last Sundays frenzy, I'd really appreciate that. I especially want to know what the name of one of the songs by Lil Suzy he played, I've never heard it before, I made a mental note to remember the name of the song, but as usual I forgot......lol. Anyways guys, all I'm saying is appreciate what you have cuz here in Ottawa, these people don't even know what freestyle is, and they think Jenifer Lopez is Dance music........ WOW that pisses me off.......

The Freestyle Frenzy

OK now is my turn to make some comments about the Freestyle frenzy. yes I am proud to say that Toronto has a freestyle show every sunday. Yes Alot us feel that The freestyle frenzy should play other freestyle tracks other than, Stevie B, Tamara, Luca. Yes I do listen to it but it drives me crazy when I hear Nsync or la bouce, or a freestyle remake of a euro or house or R&B song. I think people are not getting the chance to hear the good freestyle from NYC, CALIFORNIA, CHICAGO, New Jersey.

I do repect Tony for combining Old school and new school freestyle. People want to hear new releases and not the same song over and over again. Toronto listeners only like the popular stuff like Stevie B, Lil Suzy, Intonation, elissa, because that's all they could hear on the radio..

So I suggest be open to other artist and try to push other freestyle songs out there. here are some songs that I think that could be a hit songs in Toronto

I have been listening to Tony Monaco's freestyle frenzy every since it started and I will still support him from now on.... to the future. So Tony thanks for keep freestyle alive, but I know it's difficult sometimes.. You have to satified both sides.. the Mainstreme freestyle and the underground fans..

peace so TONY this is just one of opinons that can help the to improve the show better... I mean it's doing good right now..... but to satisfied the rest of us
