And here, I am, Dulled.
For when laughter causes one to pain at the stomach,
I alone grin.
And when sorrow causes one to fall and cry relentlessly
I alone, bow my head.
I cannot say I am alone,
for I have the Lord.
But equally, I have no one else.
I seek family, and though I see,
I do not feel.
And here, I am, Dulled.
Unable to trust, I seek friendship,
though I see, I do not feel.
Difficult more are the tears that do not fall.
Eyes become red and painful,
dulled, I do not cry.
Moreover, It is slipping, not my life,
for I am already dead,
But my ability to recognize my death,
Part of what keeps me alive.
And here, I am, Dulled.
