Call up KTU and request freestyle and keep calling and keep requesting. Faxes , mail, whatever!

If you don't do this, then stop your Bull*#%! and your crying and listen to rap.

Get in the game people.

KTU is not the ONLY radio station that plays Freestyle. There are a few others that do play freestyle & stream online as well.

Hey Freestyle freaks, I used ktu as an example, but feel free to fill any radio station you want in its place, where ever you live.

Just be heard!

Well as far as the voting poll goes.

If the quality of the genre was a lot better, than maybe other stations would try playing it, which would expose it to a younger fan base , which in turn would have clubs booking freestyle nites.

Hollaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

True Tony but as soon as a radio stations thinks of freestyle they think of bad lyrics, producing etc etc cause of some of the freestyle tracks that were poor material, but what about the good ones that are out there that deserve the air play. Thats why i feel we must also requets request and request some more if we wanna hear some freestyle on the radio.

That may be true, but what are we doing to change that perception of Freestyle. We as artist, producers, writers, labels, etc must disect what we have and develope the formula from scratch.
We must be able to give each other professional criticts, that will able each one of our projects to meet mainstream radio standards.
I know that we can reach a younger audience, and here is why.
I was in NY on Friday night and went into a club, where most of the party goers were between 18-24,and 98% of them were thugged out.
While I was there the dj started playing sweet Sensation,JudyTorres, TKA, Coro etc. Well when I got to the dance floor I saw all these people dancing their asses off.
When I asked a couple of the people did they like that music , they responded hell yeah but we have to come to the club to hear it , because this music must be underground , we don't hear it on the radio much.

When asked I thought most of the youth were into hip hop, the response was yeah we love hip hop but, this music has a diffrent feeling to it, where people our age can relate. The reason they gave was because most of them are or have been in relationships and this music talks a lot about that and the girls love this music, so naturally the guys follow and we ended up liking it.

So we do have a chance and we need to get moving . For most of these youths this is a new style of music, and they want to be the first to be a part of it.

In order to request music, you have to make sure the station at least has the cd. The artists need to make sure the Program Director, Music Director & Mixshow Coordinator have the music. Those are the ones that have the power to play something on the air. It doesn't matter if you call your favorite radio personality, they can only take down your request & forward it on to management. Here's something you may not know, the majority of the radio stations already have the music programmed for the day or even the week for that matter. So if you call in and request a freestyle song, it's highly unlikely it's going to get played unless the PD or MD has already scheduled that song to play. Now I'm not saying all radio stations are like this but the majority of them are. Especially corporate radio.

A lot of you people talk about requesting music & so forth but you know what? I'm the Mixshow Coordinator at a radio station in San Antonio & I have only received at the most 3 cd's from Freestyle Artists in the past 2 years that I've been at this radio station. I know there are more Freestyle artists on this site alone. Although I have received TONS of music from dance artists & hip hop artists as well. I'm not even talking about the ones on major labels, these are ones that are small independent labels, probably as big as some of these freestyle labels, if not even smaller. I've given the freestyle artists the opportunity to send me material. I'm not guaranteeing airplay but I will take a listen to it. You know what though? The artists that have contacted me have received airplay on my show. I'll use Ashley as an example, she went out of her way to send me a cd. I listened to it, gave it to upper management & we brought her down to San Antonio, to perform at a major freestyle show we had. We gave her a radio interview as well so she could promote her cd. She wouldn't have received that, had she not taken the initiative. All I'm saying is that you artists make sure you're contacting the right people at stations ACROSS the country. Don't just rely on KTU. I have some good friends that work there but they are not the ONLY station that plays freestyle!!!! Again, if you artists have any new material...please feel free to contact me!
