HI AND THANK YOU FOR READING THIS LETTER
they say that latinos don`t stick together ,that we jump on

any bandwagon just to be cool and look good.
they say that we are untrustworthy
that we will backstab each other in a heartbeat .
in movies they represent us as the bottom of society and at

times we think that this is good cause we look cool in the

eyes of the other ethnic communities .
we have been made to hatE each other , puerto rican to

dominican, colombian to equadorian etc etc .divide and conquer

is the tactic ,you see the powers that be understand that

there is strength in numbers so they divde us into classes, not

just by race but by music the salsa pureist must dislike the

hip hop pureist ,the pop lovers must hate rock lovers .never

has this been more evident in the latin community than by the

music we call freestyle .in the late 80`s early 90`s its what

it meant to be latino across this country .we were proud to

listen to the bands of the time ,before we had jlo we had

lissette melendez ,cynthia ,.while ricky martin was learning

to shake shaking his bom bom we had noel, trilogy ,.
marc anthony was a background singer for this type of music

.it has given us some of our major latin stars to date but we

treat it as a bastard child .playing it on a low when our

friends ain`t in the car or on that faded mixtape that is

.about to pop in your walkman
it seems we are not proud of who we were .it seems its better

to let people tell us whats cool other than be cool on our

own.what happen to you my latino brotheres and sisters is it

ok for you to be tossed aside like nothing .we get a month out

of the year to celebrate our heritage but a few years ago

there was a latino on your radio waves and on your video

channels very 5 minutes ....they called it a latin explosion

when ricky marc and jenny did it .but it was called freestyle

when the cover girls sweet sensation judy torres did it and

you know what that was a bigger explosion than now .support

your latino brothers and sisters ....no better yet support

yourselves.they were who you looked up to when you had nothing

to represent you .
when you wanted it louder than love there was tka
when you needed to know how it felt without you there was

george lamond
when you needed to come there was k7

latino's stand up represent
believe in your self again

Nicely put 🙂

I've said it in the past....I've always tried to "push" freestyle onto any latinos/latinas I come across (co-workers, etc). So often they would prefer to listen to hip hop. I think that's sad....freestyle is something to be proud of, not ashamed of....

I always listen to freestyle and often get people hooked to it or just let them relive it. Often I hear AWW thats my song. I can never let frestyle die. Its part who I am what I grew up on. And as long as I breath on this earth let it be whenI'm 95 yrs old I will still listen to freestyle. Can you picture that a 95 yr. old woman who listens to freestyle and be jammin with her walker 1/2 blind.😛

Preach on brother lol Seriously though that is why I am always posting that we need to come out and support the artist when they perfomr its one thing to talk about supporting them its another to actually do it purchasing the music isnt enough people have to come out to the clubs and show support in #s this is one site that brings all teh info you need to you directly all at one time from the artsits mouths to members themselves. So do what you can and show support locas will be there hope to see everyone there 😀

This is something that I ve always stated to a lot of latinos that are strictly into hip/hop and r&b, especially boricuas (not to be biased towards other latinos or ethnic background cause music is for everyone), but a majority of the freestyle singers are from puertorican background, and me being puertorican I feel very proud of the singers and groups that are representing freestyle, just like Fat Joe, represents hip hop, and JLO represents pop/r&b, I also feel proud of the fact that they are from boricua background.
But as K7 lay down the facts, is so true, there was always a lot of backstabbing and backtalking in the freestyle community, there was a lot of envy I think, not to mention unity, look at the hip hop and r and b groups how they always stick together, and are always looking towards the future, thats because when rap first came out it was the only thing representing the younger black community back then and they took it to the next level.
Same thing with r&b, salsa, merengue, pop, you name it, there was never any backstabbin going on.... I could recall back in the days, here in Boston, whenever there was a huge freestyle concert, they would be like Boricuas in the house, Latinos are in the house, stuff like that. That was an overwhelming feeling just to hear that, while the artist sang. Now thats long gone, is now that Boricua hip hop artist are starting to be heard, not to mention Jlo.
Also artist like Ricky Martin to be honest with you represents the puertorican community only because he was from Menudo and the fact that he is boricua, but from what I could remember alot of boricuas here in the states or in PR itself were never really into him, now if you would ve gone to Mexico, Spain, or South America you would ve heard of him more.
But let me not loose my train of thought, but the fact of the matter is we need to stick together and be united, and fight for our music, people treated freestyle like Disco, is gone and thats it, move to the next, but thats not true.
K7 mad props to you, cause you stuck it through, w/ TKA and being a Solo artist. And I am very happy of the project w/ George LaMond, he is one true artist also......Hopefully I made some sense, but I have one question to every one here that loves freestyl.
WHY INDIA AND MARC ANTHONY NEVER GAVE PROPS TO FREESTYLE IN A LOT OF THEIR INTERVIEWS, IF YOU ANYONE HAS HEARD OF ANY PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I am not hatin on them, they were the bomb in freestyle, India for her powerful voice and Marc due to his writing abilities and strong background vocals.
Again sooory for the long thread, but when it comes to this subject matter, I feel very strongly about it.

i dont understand the change of heart concerning freestyle all of a sudden 😱

i would love to show love to k7 and george lamond . I am very happy they joined forces and I can't wait to hear their material. I haven't been able to get my hands on any of their new songs...I wish they would come up to Pearl in white plains snd play some music,,cause i know they will get ALOT of love there and i'll be the one in the front leading em all...thanks ..mandy

I believe that if we weren't so distinguished in race this this wouldn't be a problem. For example when we have a puerto rican artist that community is quick to distinguishe itself from mexicans, cubans etc etc. Same with other hispanics races, Im not trying to bash i know we all like to represent, im mexican myself and this is a problem that we always had. Now if you see an afican american artist and a jamaican artist this problem is not so visible. So basicaly what im trying to say is a latino is a latino whether your mexican, puerto rican, cuban etc. We are all latino this may sound cheesy but we must learn to stick together, and not try and seperate each other.

Well said Kay,

I hope you have a better turn out than we did last night for the childrens benefit at Lincoln Hospital.

Look peeps we all need to start representing freestyle a lot more. Like K7 don't be a shamed to play your freestyle music low. After AnthonyA hooked me up with a couple of mixes man on my days off I be blasting my freestyle jams all day and LOUD. In my car when I see people I play it LOUD. At work on my down time I play my freestyle. My kids know a lot of the freestyle songs my kids are big fans of TKA by the way. Especially my 4 year old he knows the entire song to When Will I See You and U Don't feel it. My suggestion is always carry with you a supply of freestyle jams on you and if you go to a partty that aint playing freestyle represent peeps. Aight Peace

I always represent Freestyle wherever I'm at. But, it's getting old. I think I've said this many times before- to all you Freestyle artist out there and still performing- get some new material. I'm not going to any show's 'cuz I always wind up hearing the same shit. How do you expect to progress in this industry if your singing what you were singing back in 1986. Yeah, sing the classics but damn......

kay I will see you on Friday in CHICAGO! Can't wait to see you perform! I have been supporting FREESTYLE since I was in grammer school me and my girls used to always be singing in class or on our way to school and til this day I still sing to EVERY freestyle song that I'm listing too..I support Freestyle ALL THE WAY and I'm passing it on to my babies, when I play freestyle my 18 month old daughter starts dancing and trying to sing like her mami..so SHE WILL be jamming to freestyle as well!

I tried hard to push Freestyle onto latinos and many times though I find that the latinos I have spoken about Freestyle to aren't really into it. As for me the realtionship with latinos and Freestyle has help me become non bias towards any group of them.Although I myself am not latino Freestyle has brought me closer to them over the years which is a good thing! In the past when I am urged to make a slip of the tongue about latinos I think twice and realize they are the creators and masters of freestyle, so wouldn't I be a hippocrite to speak bad about any of them? WePa let's go to the party baby!!!
:blah to all who oppose

im known to be the king of freestyle with my crew cuz thats mainly what i jam to....yeah they listening to only jayz and only to nas, while i listen to it all and theres no hotter music than freestyle, i dont give a flying f*ck what nebody says......dont be ashmed to what u like especially with an art like music, cuz that just isnt right.....represent what u are (cubano baby, quebola asere)but stick together like brothers and sisters cuz were all the same....latino, italian, whatever were all down with the freestyle religion and thats what it comes down too!!!i actually get excited when i meet someone whos into freestyle, it gives me another great conversation to chat about.....KAY man ur one of my favorite vocalists and im looking forward to hearing alot more music from u chief!!!!!!keep freestyle alive!!!

Well said k7. I couldn't agree with you more. I always represent freestyle and always will. I'm tired of hearing people putting down freestyle music. I think they're just jealous of you guys and girls because freestyle is blessed with alot of talented artist and freestyle music is 100 times better than alot of the shit thats being played on the radio today. If only we can get a radio station to mainstream freestyle we would be back in business. Until then lets do what we can to keep freestyle alive and support all of the freestyle artist. Freestyle forever baby!!!!!!!!!!

NICELY PUT KAY. I FOR ONE LOVE FREESTYLE AND I'M NOT ASHAMED TO PLAY IT BUT I HAVE ALSO ENCOUNTER PEOPLE WHO CLAIM TO LOVE BUT ACT ASHAME TO LISTEN TO IT THATS JUST PLAIN IGNORANCE. FREESTYLE IS PART OF MY HERITAGE AND I WILL SUPPORT IT ANYWAY I CAN. I FOR ONE WILL BE THERE ON SAT TO SHOW LOVE AND SUPPORT TO FREESTYLES GREATEST.

I always have and always will have the utmost support for freestyle...And you know what, when I blast it out of my car in the summertime with the windows down, people stop and look and a LOT of them smile...sometimes I get people who yell back to me "YEAH FREESTYLE BABY!!!!"....I don't see why anyone would be ashamed to listen to freestyle, but then again I'm a little biased bc I live in Staten Island, where freestyle still has a sizable fan base. But whereever I go, my freestyle will follow me....And come on, have you heard my mixes, how can ya not just listen over and over again
