Last week at a Fourm in Brown Univ, he was talking to students about how Rap Music is bad for Black America. He says that rappers help send a message about the black community. He thinks all these gangsta Rap lyrics are dangerous.

What do you think of a guy who used to embrace hip hop in his movies and now dissing it?

Well maybe it's because rap has changed. Not all Rap, but most rap in a negative manner. And perhaps that's what he means and doesn't support it.

Back in the days when Rap was born, it was Rappers Delight by the Sugarhill Gang. There was nothing negative about it. Then Kurtis Blow came out, he wasn't negative. Then followed Run DMC, LL Cool J, etc.

That's my opinion on perhaps why he isn't supporting it anymore.

And, many rappers now spend time rapping about their Escalades, gold chains and yachts!!!!!!!!! Many do feel hip hop has also become too glam and materialistic.

Look back to when he was using it in his movies and compare it to today's hip hop/rap.

To me it's gotten much more violent than back in the day.

Personally, I think he is ABSOLUTELY right. And I'm glad it's a powerful African-American that is saying this, and not some White Supremacist or someone like Bill O'Reilly. Spike Lee has every right to preach about Hip-Hop. He was the one that put Brooklyn and Public Enemy on the map. Actually, Public Enemy rapped about some positive, political shit and he had people all shook up. On the other hand, you have NWA and those fools rappin' about gangbangin' and killing cops and personally, I don't wanna hear about that shit. If you live in Compton and don't like it, then make something of yourself and move up.

For a Black man to say this shit about Rap music is definitely a sign that people need to wake the f@@k up and take notice, instead of taking everything as an insult to the Black community.

Bill O'Riely is an a$$hole!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think there some people who still are not over the Tupac and Biggie deaths. They saw that East Coast vs West Coast battle to being very bad. Many just don't want to see that sh*t happen again.

We need to get Spike Lee hooked up on some Freestyle and talk about love.

i like some rap but at times i think they all trying to prove the same stupid point .... i make more money then ju... ill kill you n ur crew blah blah alot of bullshit..
