Hey everybody! I just thought I would go ahead and post one of my many lyrics. I will be posting more lyrics so keep checking up on this tight website!! Also, you can use these lyrics, as long as my name is associated with it!! 🙂

Look into these eyes
You will find I'm not the same girl
I use to be
All those crazy nights
I guess we had no shame
now it's different
Times have changed

I'll be here for you when times get hard
I'll be here for you when love has no name
During lonely days
During sweet summer nights
I know you still love me, but what else can I say?

I loved you forever
so it seemed
I thought our love would never die
how blind could I be?
To think we would stay in each other's arms
only to find out we would only part

I'll be here for you when times get hard
I'll be here for you when love has no name
During lonely days
During sweet summer nights
I know you still love me, but what else can I say?

It seemed like yesterday when we were together
now it's a lifetime without you forever....
without you forever, without you forever

Not bad...but now I am going to steal your hard work and make it my own, LOL...Just Kidding. Be careful, though. Many people have submitted lyrics to labels only to have their songs stolen. Imagine how much easier the internet makes it for someone to steal your hard work...

Hey Rhoq

Hi Rhoq nice to see you back!

FYI.. This is the Freeware Beats and Lyrics section.. We encourage people to share their work with others here.. We do reqire them to post a disclaimer stating the they are the original author..

Hi Jack...

Thanks!!!

I understand that, but still - Say I were to post one of my songs and someone out there in Freestyleland likes what they see and decide that they want to record my song. Who is going to guarantee that I will receive credit for authoring the song? I could post all of the dicslaimers I want to, but hell, there are a lot of dishonest people out there. Unless, of course, by posting original material here are ClubFreestyle.com secures a copyright for original lyrics and/or compositions, which if it does, I would have no problem posting some of my stuff...

To Rhoq....

Hey Rhoq what's up?? Thank you for your advice! Believe me, even before I made up my mind I was going to post a song up, I thought about exactly what you wrote in both of your replies. I know there are lots of dishonest people out there that could steal my song and say it was their own. But, I guess I'm taking my chances. I have a lot of other songs and other lyrics, this is just one song that, to be honest with you, I thought of the same time I was posting it on this website. I just felt the urge to write immediately. I think this column is a good idea to share lyrics and stuff like that with aspiring artists and anyone else for that matter. But, I do respect your advice. I am very cautious what I write anywhere on any website. Thank you once again! Peace and much love 2 ya!!!!

I'm just trying to look-out for 'ya Babycakes!!! Since you decided to take a chance, well...I'll take one as well...I am going to post a newsong I wrote just the other day, titled "YOU'LL BE SORRY"...

Hey Rhoq, thank you for looking out for me that's cool! Sorry, if I came out to you as rude or anything. I'm really a sweet girl!! 🙂 Babycakes

Chill

Rhoq, This is for the free exchange. Posting here does not guarantee anything but a good time, and new friends. We want to develop this area as a resource. This is the spot to share your work with others in hope to make a final product....a song.

So Share Away!

Copyrights

Jack,

Can't these posts serve as evidence of ownership of works / lyrics? It seems like it can. Copyrights do not necessarily have to be registered for someone to claim ownership. People just have to prove that something stolen really belongs to them and they came up with it first. And there are a lot of witnesses here. What you you think?

Jason

hi everyone :O)

Hello...I understand your concerns....and I also want to post stuff I wrote but I also wondered like Jason, isnt there another way to prove that you wrote the lyrics besides copyrighting it? I heard its 30 dollars to copyright something is that true...thats alot! I heard theres another way to prove it, something like mailing the lyrics to yourself and then never open the envelope and if a question comes up you have it as proof...maybe this should be under the rumors section. Ive just been asking around about copyrighting because im really interested in copyrighting a song i wrote. Anyways Im glad rhoq, jason and baby cakes shared there words with us here on the board its neat to see a song in progress...I have some unfinished ones too. Take care...and keep writing freestyle :O)

You're right, Mandy

You can mail yourself your work as proof, if a dispute ever arises. It is a "poor man's copyright". But the formal copyright is recommended over that method. I was thinking that this board is somewhat like postage, because messages are date-stamped.

Poor Man's Copyright

Jason & Mandy...

Yeah, the "Poor Man's Copyright" works, but not all of the time...How it works is: you send something to your self. Once you receive it - never open it. The date on the envelope (when they cancel the stamp) acts as the copyright date. Unfortuantely I have heard of cases where courts have not allowed the "Poor Man's Copyright" to be proof of ownership...I guess your damned if you do and damned if you don't!!!

So,how exactly do you get a copyright???

Hi Rhoq,Jason, and Mandy!! Hope you all are doing well.
So, besides the "poor man's copyright", where do you go to get a copyright?? I understand that you have to pay $30.00. Does any one know how the process works????
Thank ya bunches and much love 2 ya,
Babycakes🙂

Personally, i always copyright my songs "the poor man's way"...although eventually i plan on doing it the formal way...For those who think the $30 fee is too steep, perhaps a good idea would be to get several of your songs together on one tape, and copyright them all at the same time, so you'd only pay the $30 once, instead of having to pay for every song...i don't know if that's possible. Has anyone ever done that?

You can actually put a bunch of songs on one tape and copyright that. I forgot how to do one. I've never registered one myself; but I know you have to submit lyrics and/or music sheets or a tape. I'll have to look up the exact process in my books.
