something that needs to be cleared up...what is and isn't Freestyle

OK... lots of posts here regarding TKA and others, but there is something that needs to be cleared up. there are people here talking bout the new sound of freestyle with people talking about TKA's new album being the new sound of freestyle. now let's just forget TKA was ever freestyle for a second. the album is ok. what I have a problem with is people calling that the new sound of freestyle. anyone with any knowledge of dance music knows the new TKA album is house (with the exception of "In A Manner"). i saw someone a long time ago post something similar. if this album gets big, we can't try taking credit for the success of the album as freestyle. that credit will have to go to house. and no I am not one of those old school-only people who resist the progression of freestyle, in fact I am a bigger fan of new school. the latest by Angelina, Jocelyn Enriquez, Lil Suzy, Synthia Figueroa, Wiseguy Orchestra, Sharyn Macaren, Adrianna, Kromozone Project, Christine Marie, Collage, that is all new school. that is a completely different sound from the new TKA album which is house. so people posting... lets get this right. if you are posting how you like the new TKA album, then fine, post it. i don't think it's bad. but don't say that this is the new sound of freestyle cuz it isn't. and if you respond to this, I don't want to hear any hate posts, cuz this is not a TKA hate thread. it is about the classification of our music. if people here keep talking like this, then soon we'll be calling Darude and Daft Punk freestyle!

I'd also like to know where the cut off is between old and new skool freestyle. The planet rock beat did make up a lot of the old skool but I'd like to hear more about what people consider new skool freestyle. I also thought the TKA trax were more house and other genres.

Doesn't it need more than some elements to make it something that can clearly be called freestyle?? I feel that if something is freestyle, there should be no question about it. Is there any doubt Change on me.....or Missing Your Love are freestyle?? No. The same should be able to be said about this new album, no?

Word Up!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That album is NOT Freestyle. Of course, they'll try to tell us it is, so that they can scam us out of our money. This is a House/R&B/Pop album. Not much to do with freestyle. The fact that people would regard this album as freestyle shows why freestyle is the most unsuccessful genre of music. The fans simply suck. There's no structure. Yeah, you heard it.

I cant believe this...This whole thing about Its not freestyle, or it has elements of freestyle...Its over..we have had huge arguments about this already...A lot of people think its Freestyle, as others think its not..Think whatever u want...But I could care less..Because the CD sounds HOT! exactly! too many people saying this and that have elements of freestyle and call it freestyle. then damn, I could find ways to call house, trance, and jungle freestyle.

and Crystal, this post is not just about TKA. the purpose of this post is to get people thinking about what is and isn't freestyle, and it really isn't too hard. if the TKA album has success, then great, but that success shouldn't have all us freestyle fans saying-"look a victory for freestyle" cuz it won't be. however, we could say it's a victory for TKA which it would be.
