The SmackDown holiday special was taped from
Baghdad International Airport in Iraq on Saturday.
The big news is that Steve Austin does appear on the
show and raises some hell. We don't want to give too
much away but the taping was reportedly a huge hit with
the troops. The following matches took place: The APA
vs. Charlie Hass/Shelton Benjamin; Rikishi vs. Rhyno;
Eddie Guerrero vs. Chris Benoit; Torrie Wilson vs. Dawn
Marie vs. Sable and John Cena vs. Big Show. Link:

The 2004 Royal Rumble is now sold out after tickets
went on sale Saturday. The actual Rumble match will
feature 15 wrestlers from each brand competing for
a main event slot at WrestleMania XX. As we've been
reporting for quite some time the current plan is for
John Cena to win the match although his opponent
at WrestleMania is still undecided. The January
pay-per-view emanates from the Wachovia Center in
Philadelphia.

Bad news continues for UK readers... as it stands
right now the Royal Rumble won't be broadcast live
on Sky Box Office. Talks between the WWE and
TV chiefs have apparently grinded to a halt due to
a dispute over money.

Ric Flair has spoken out about the "flight from hell"
during WWE's recent overseas trip to South Korea.
The plane had to make an emergency landing in
Russia to refuel amid terrible weather conditions.
"I was sitting in the back and didn't realize that the
pilots were having an argument about how to land,"
Flair recounted to the Charleston Post and Courier.
"We missed the runway twice. Most turbulence just
knocks you up and down; this was the kind of
turbulence that was tipping the plane sideways.
That's what scared me. And believe it or not, an hour
later we took off in the same (weather). It was a brutal
flight all the way around. We had to stop four times
for fuel and couldn't get off the plane until Hawaii. We
were on the plane for almost 20 hours without being
able to get off."

Rumor has it that WWE management will start
handing out pink slips after the holidays. The impending
cut backs are down to a steady decline in TV ratings and
pay-per-view revenue in 2003. From what we understand
office staff and development talent may be let go along
with select bottom card talent. The following wrestlers are
likely candidates for the chop:

** Ultimo Dragon -- has failed to impress or make
an impact since signing with the WWE. Management are
said to be extremely down on him at the moment. He was
recently asked to remove his mask but is said to be against
that idea.

** Rhyno -- currently doing the job for seemingly every
talent on the SmackDown roster. He has never really been
the same since returning from neck surgery.

** Chris Kanyon -- injury prone and inconsistent.

** Jacqueline -- probably officiated more matches than she
has wrestled this past year. Jacqueline is a shade south of
40 and although she is a good hand time is not on her side.

** Zach Gowen -- deluded by illusions of his own
self-importance. Gowen has upset a lot of people in the
locker room with his attitude and poor work ethic.

Already pink-slipped... Dustin "Goldust" Runnels received
his release papers over the weekend. He will likely head to
Japan in the new year to work for Zero-One and is currently
accepting bookings stateside on the independent circuit.

But on a positive note... Rob Van Dam has started
negotiating with the WWE to extend his existing contract.
Talks are reportedly going smoothly and RVD is expected
to ink a new deal soon.

WWE officials will be meeting with Kenta Kobashi when
the SmackDown crew tours Japan in February. Kobashi
is hoping to work out a deal with the WWE which would
see Kurt Angle work NOAH's Tokyo Dome show in April.

RAW tonight is a "Best of 2003" edition. We've heard
the WWE production people have been working overtime
putting this show together. Hopefully they can perform
a miracle so the bad story telling this year won't appear
as bad as it has been.

IGN.com has an interview up with Jake "The Snake"
Roberts. Here is an excerpt: "I didn't need to dive off
ladders through tables. It doesn't take a great wrestler
to jump off of a cage and crash through three tables,
it takes a damn idiot. Today it's kind of funny how the
fans applaud people for doing all of these sick, foolish
things. In the street, they'd lock you in a padded room
and call you a suicidal maniac. That's not a great
wrestler. To me that's like using a Lex Luger move
where you kill something... whether that's a clothesline
or a lady. Sorry, didn't mean that, but I did too." Click to

WWE.com has an interview up with Lita discussing her
ring return and autobiography. "I'm feeling better than
I thought I would as far as my neck goes. But my neck still
feels a lot weaker -- I've bounced my head a few times
on the mat -- and I'm assuming that's just due to lack of
strength built up in my neck. Other than that, the rest of my
body feels pretty good." Link: http://tinyurl.com/3xad6

The Miami Herald has an article up on The Rock appearing
at a Christmas gift give-away for underprivileged children.

CNBC featured an item this morning on the McMahon
family and how the WWE has grown over the years. Vince,
Linda and Shane were interviewed about how The Rock,
Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant became mainstream stars
with the company.

Quote of the Week: "A lot of people are supposed to be
at this reunion... so there will be a few guys there that I enjoy
and there will be a few guys there that I hate. And there
will be a few guys there I'll say, 'Just go f--- yourself.' That's
all." -- Ole Anderson speaking on the Mid-Atlantic Wrestling
Legends event which takes place next year.

some is old news rhyno already is in talks with NWA. and thier first mega PPV is on hold because of whether Hogan will sign with McMahon for one last appearance at Mania. Hogan walked on wwe cause of that Mr America angle and his knee was bothering him. BUt Vinnie Mac knows a payday is still a given for hogan on the card. And if he is going to do this wm as a legends special he needs hogan. RVD has been very displeased with the wwe as well as wwe upset with him for being careless in the ring and hurting wrestlers. He woudnt mind spending more time with the comic book store he owns and then go to NWA. Its no secret WWE never properly handled thier aquired rosters from ecw and wcw. Goldberg may not make it to WM cause he is constantly blowing up and just after last monday raw he was throwing tables around...... He may not want to resign and the feeling maybe mutual on wwes end as well.

Reason the ratings are down is cuz the storylines SUCK! Plain and simple! Look at the shenanigans they had Kane pullin and all that mess with HHH and Evolution :rolleyes And let's not forget the racial crap either!

I think vinnie mac needs to fire his daughter from the writing team... Keep the belt off her husband and go back to Wrassling & enough of the sports entertainment... cause its not entertaining. Watch NWA on weds for a technical, mat and high flying fix
