It crept up so silently between them
Like soft padded feet of a sleek feline;
Right there in front of them before they knew it --
Had it been there all the time?
Should they turn quickly and run away
Or back off slowly and hope it will not see?
They both had thought they sensed its presence
But denied it and thought it could not be.
What is this invisible thing called between them --
Does it even have a tangible name?
Does anyone else around them feel it . . .
The increasing warmth of its flame?
Its heat is slowly fusing them together --
Soon they won't be able to pull away.
Helpless pawns of its hypnotic power,
Soon they will be begging it to stay . . .
A powerful magnet that draws them closer --
In time they will yield to their induction.
For the chance to run is now lost forever . . .
There is no escaping -- their silent seduction.
