Security was not slacking. It was a privilage for council members, Mayor etc. had for by passing the metal detectors. Council member Davis brought the killer in with him. They were speaking with each other.
 
The shooter was identified as Othniel Askew, a political rival of Davis in this year's council elections, according to Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

As some of you may know, I work for a City Councilmember, and we were suppose to be at that Stated Meeting today, but fortunate the Councilwoman did not attend due to election matters. I Thank God and Im glad we are all ok. We closed the office early cause the Councilwoman was rushed with Police Excort to City Hall for an Emergency Meeting with the Mayor. Yes, I met/knew at a distant Councilman Davis, a funny man and a go getter, against violence, what he believed was what he expressed, nothing held him back, very dramatic, he would say whatever regardless the consequenses. I can't believe that an election opponent can lead to this. I know it is very dirty, cause I seen it all, we went through out campaigne days for this year, and theres more to come.

RIP Councilman Davis, my condolences to his family, employees, peers and friends.

This is such a horrific day to know that we were taking our Summer Youth Workers to see the actions behind the Stated Meeting and we could have been there during this sad incident.

yes they are both dead....the sad thing is that he was escorted in by the Councilman. Security is really tight there, that was the only way he was let in with two weapons, that right he had two. When we go in with the Councilwoman we are not seached! 🙁 But now all is going to be searched. Yes a very sad day for alot of people. 🙁
 
history again..anyone can be gotten too...unfortunate..but it really shouldnt be shocking.turn on your radio and randomly pick a station and count how many minutes until you hear a song come on about blowing someones brains out...
