Few mins ago I hear her big american hit: Dreaming With You. Beautiful song. Here is a what if:

If Selena was alive today and released her English speaking album; would we even be talking about J-Lo today or in other words; would she she be the dominant force in American latin Pop Music?

My answer would be YES!

She wrote great songs, and had a beautiful voice, she was very beautiful, but did not talk about it all the time. She was the full package .

i think they both would be up there..raising hell on the charts..and both in music and in film..sel used to love jens movies.. sel was beggining to be involved in films..sooner or later..we wouldve seen them in movies together..or on the same stage..if only she had lived..

j lo would be a nobody today lloll. selena carried weight mega time in the mexican community. although j lo never leaned on hispanics for anything. all of her music has been to american audiences. i never sceen here do anything toards hispanics really.

but selena would of owned the south west central america and california. and the liberal media who is always eternally looking to put minorities in there pocket or on payroll.

would have flocked to selenia just for that. she would had been big. bec of the media. and the tex mex angle and all that.

j lo was born here more or less. theres no hispanic side of her to exploit.?

honestly I hadn't heard of J-lo much until her first movies.

THEN I remembered her from In Living Color. :mdance
she stood out to me.

However, being that Selena is from Texas, of course I was able to see her many times and so forth. It seemed she had SOOOOOOOOOO much going for her before she was murdered.

Selena seemed to have looked like she was ready for the big Worldwide/Ameican stage. Like Shakiria, she looked like she was ready to expand, look at how big she is. I got really upset when writers and E! was comparing Shakira to Britney. What an insult. Comparing Britney to Shakira is comparing apples to oranges.

well look we have to face it. that just out of absence of talent. for no other reason.

Britney is the defacto madonna. and i do stress the word defacto as much as i can stress it. she is the madonna of our time if you wanna call it that? or if you can call it that?

she is who the media has embraced and once the media In These times makes a decsion.

and as i always say. these times have No Greatness especially in music. So it has to be created. and so the media has decided to create britney as great singer or something?

so you have to compare everything to her just the way it is.

but really j lo and britney and even shakira. would have drowned in the 80's cuase they have no greatness and they dont have great songs. and theyre not great figures. or is there anything great about em.

i think selena might of had a shot.? in the 80's and when i mean a shot i mean a shot toards the tail end. of the 80's like 89 88. when micheal and madonna whitney jannet.

but for these times.? i guess

britney is who you have to compare everybody too? theres really not that many choices. and i think in this medicocracy competition.

probobally britney still wins between shakira j lo and selina. cuase shes smut.

and the media loves smut?

so id think in these time? britney still be on top or still will be?

To me what really made J-Lo so famous internationally was her portrayal in the movie Selena which wouldn't have been made if she hadn't died. That movie made her career skyrocket. There are many more Latinas who are more talented. I'm not saying she's not purty or doesn't have talent, but she's not the only one.
