First let me say to anyone from San Antonio, please don't get offended I'm just stating the facts, nothing personal.

Let me introduce myself. I haven’t been in the chat rooms since freestyle nation. I'm originally from CT and I just moved to Texas last year. Texas wasn't a place I ever planned on moving to but you can't help who you fall in love with. My husband is originally from Brownsville, TX, so that's why we moved here. That is a town in the middle of nowhere, I’m glad we're out of there. We now live in Austin we like it but it can't compare to the east coast.

Anyways lets get to the point of this post. This weekend I went to the Lo Rider Show in SA, where I was thought to believe that Angelina was going to perform but she only sang her duet with NB Riders. The pathetic part of this show was the crowd. I have not seen such a boring crowd since the last show in San Antonio a few months ago, they showed no love and they were disrespectful. But we’ll get back to that in a sec. Let’s just put it this way, no one was dancing, or having fun. I don’t even think anyone cracked a smile. They barely laughed when the comedian came out and he was funny. And when NB Riders sang there were maybe like 10 girls who were dancing and having fun. I was one of them and I don’t even know any of their songs. Everyone else just had these blank stares on their faces, u could feel the tension in there. No wonder Angelina didn’t sing I wouldn’t waste my breathe on that crowd either. Actually I think there was a problem with getting her music to work or something, at least that’s what they said.

Now about the freestyle concert from a couple of months ago. First off there was hardly anyone there, and the people who were there were incredibly boring. I can remember only one group of maybe five people besides me standing up and dancing. When the new artists came out everyone was sitting in their seats doing nothing. I though I was in church. Then when Funky Green Dogs came out which by the way I thought she was a great singer, they literally said no when she asked if she could sing another song. The crowd didn’t truly pick up until Stevie B came out and even then they were no comparison to an east coast crowd. The only thing the coliseum served was alcohol, you would think that would liven up some people. All I have to say is whether or not the singer or group was good, people should show some respect to these artists. It takes a lot to get up there. I thought it was because a lot of the artist were from the east coast but when their local artist, Jeannie, sang there still weren’t many people getting out of their chairs. Anyways I just wanted to report on the freestyle scene here in central Texas. And people wonder why most concerts are in New York, the east coast knows how to party.

Sorry for the long post and I hope I didn't offend anyone.

hey precious, im also from CT and go to san antonio all the time...i havent been to a concert there but i do know that 106.7 Jamz, the dance station in San Anton , plays A LOT of freestyle and they even have a freestyle show on Sunday nights,,,there may not be love in the concert scene as you say, but there is love for it on the radio!!

Michael i agree.106.7 plays a lot of good music and i always here freestyle. I give props to them for supporting them, its just a shame the people don't know how to enjoy a good show. oh well. i'll be at any shows down there to support all artists.

THATS CUZ U HAVENT BEEN TO DALLAS

I cant speak for San Antonio...
But Dallas does show lots of Love For Freestyle!!..U just aint in the right town girl!. Hit Dallas and u will See... Austin shows more love for Ravers but the freestyle still exists. And i know what u mean about the Pepsi Si concert this past May...that was kinda lame for the crowd to Booo them off...Party in Dallas and u will change your mind about Texas 🙂:hearton

I think San Antonio does support freestyle. If they didn't, then how can we have a station (106.7 JAMZ, which I'm a DJ at) that plays freestyle music on regular rotation, during mix shows and even dedicates 3 hours of their programming to? You know how many people would love to have a station like that in their city? If San Antonio didn't support freestyle then I would definitely not mix any freestyle on my shows. You should see the response everytime I do spin freestyle on the radio, the phone lines go wild. I don't think it's San Antonio not supporting Freestyle, it's San Antonio NOT supporting live concerts. The Pepsi Si' Summer Jam had over 15 acts w/ ticket prices starting at only $10.00 which to me is one heck of a deal. The Usher concert didn't do that well, the Pink & Lenny Kravitz concert didn't do to well either, neither did the Marc Anthony concert. So it's not just the "Freestyle" shows that are not being supported but even other concerts w/ other styles of music are not being supported by San Antonians. Heck even the recent hip hop concert w/ Angie Martinez & Fat Joe didn't even do well and that was a F R E E concert!!!

From what I know, at the Lowrider show there was not a DAT player on hand to play Angelina's music on so she was unable to perform. When I was on stage at the Lowrider show, I can sense that the crowd was not really into the whole show or feeling it at all. At $25.00 dollars a head, the crowd should've been eating it up. The thing is the crowd wasn't even into the car hop/dance competition which normally gets the crowd going.

we need to get a group of us playas from RIGHT here in NYC...and rock ttye sh*t outta san antoniofor a weekend....wussup, who's down to get it started?????

And u know ill for shure be there....yall guys come on down and show these unmovitated Texans the "real" way to Freestyle . 😉

I don't think we need anyone showing us "Texans" how to party. It's just a certain city that needs it. I never see that problem here in Dallas. SA just needs some Dallas acts to perform there.

I will have to agree with Precious, S.A. does not have the energy for freestyle...i was at the pepsi concert this summer i will have to agree....DJ Rene, the radio station kicks ......Now, Precious you will have to come down to Dallas, for the next freestyle concert, then you'll feel different..Dallas peeps can party, from the beginning to the end....
