IN MY OPINION: Over 50% of dance & hip-hop records contain 1 or more samples of another song, which goes along way to contributing to their success. This may be a reason why freestyle isn’t as popular. Some may say that makes freestyle original then on the other hand you could say, when you hear a familiar sample you automatically latch or even reminisce on the song.

1) What do you think?

2) Does any one know any freestyle tracks, which contain a familiar sample?

I'd have to correct you on your estimate of samples used on dance and hip hop songs. It's more like 95% especially the new stuff. As far as any freestyle tracks which contain a familiar sample, take your pick, more than likely it's gonna be the Planet Rock sample. If it's not Planet Rock it's another Electro-Funk classic ie. Push The Button, Funky Soul Makossa, Play at Your Own Risk, 122 b.p.m.s, The Soul, etc, etc. Believe you me, I know about every loop they use from an Electro-Funk song 'cause I used to breakdance to them back in the day.

I also love the repetitive samples/stutters in freestyle. My favourites found in the intro or middle of tracks like:

From the U.S.

Shavonne - So Tell Me
Buffy - Give me a reason
Noel - Silent Morning
Shannon - Give me tonite (Club Mix)

From Canada

Monik Garo - Natural Desire (Boomtang Boys mix)
Lana - Don't ever leave me
Emanuel - I'm Still dreaming

There are tons more, add your own! hehe

I agree 100% with DannyDFreestyle. Sampling has been going on forever! Sh**, the first commercially played rap song "Rapper's Delight" sampled the instrumentals of the disco hit "Good Times" by Chic. Disco has been sampled more times than.....than God knows what! lol
