the highest court in MA approved of same sex marriages

the next state to have ruling on this is my :spin beautiful home state of NJ

The way I read it, the Supreme Court of Mass. actually did not approve same sex marriages. Rather, they ruled that the ban on same sex marriages was unconstitutional. Now the Legislature most rewrite the state's marriage laws. There is still many months (years?) to go before this issue will be settled.
