Rumor about a new sound?

Hope everyone's holiday is well.

Heard a rumor about a new record label named "ONLY AT NIGHT RECORDS" which will feature producers blending the old free-style sound with loops, and breaks from todays rap scene.

This sound actually might be interesting. No?

I know one of the producers and its beginning to generate interest in upstate. Last time I spoke with the labels promotion department they indicated that several local artists had signed and two were about to begin production.

Mixing Rap and Freestyle ?

This hybrid of freestle....Mixing rap with freestyle is old news
in the freestyle world , been done many times before, even way before kennyfreestyle came along. Incorperating rap/hip hop loops (beats) has also been done before......by Carlos Berrios .
So where's the new ingredient here ? Not trying to knock anyone here, just curious. : )

Sounds like a real bad idea to me. Modern rap is commercialized, has no soul, and is boring. At least older rap was the work of real DJ's and MC's but now its all the bottom line ($$). Modern rap beats are rehashed boring tunes... few have any musical merit. And the most embarassing trend is the middle eastern sound being stolen and raped by second-rate rappers.
