I have never had the chance to meet Lisette but she really seems to have gotten to many of you. That's unfortunate that many of you feel this way. As far as getting an explanation to this behavior, if you watch the Kings & Queens dvd, she kinda talks about it. The claim is made that being an introvert, she is often thought of as a bitch. Maybe more time is needed until she feels comfortable to be social then just a couple minutes to ask for an autograph and picture. I'm not in any way trying make a defense here just trying shed some light.

hold on one moment??

i might be on a different planet? but first? what is this fascination with liz melendez? number one? cuase this aint the first i hear about this singer and people sweating her a bit lol,.

number 2?

what stuff did she put out other " a day in my life with out you"

and some weaker follow up? as far as i remember and i could be wrong cuase that was 91 through 93 or so,.

what did she put out? she made twon singles,. nothing like judy rorrez whos made like 5 or more. i dont see why people to this day remember her name.

she was at best? a very forgettable singer,. and her beats were not really 100 percent freestyle.

they had a tuch of house in them,. the beat that she used in the background or for a day in my life,.

at that time was not that far away from a house beet,.

i just dont know what is or ever will know the big fascination with this singer?

but for some reason she has some freestyle pull??

Just to shed some light on RBoNUC29's post. Lisette Melendez released "Together Forever" and "A Day In My Life" in 91 along with her debut album. She followe that with a couple less successful albums and then had a notable hit with "Goody Goody" in 94 which was in rotation on various mixshows throughout the states and did very well in Japan. For you to say you would rank Tiana higher on the list than Lisette is strange in that Tiana had one hit with "First True Love", released an album that went nowhere and disappeared from the music scene. In many casual fans eyes she would be more forgettable that Lisette. I think the fascination as you called it comes from the fact that Lisette had an incredible voice that was monsterous and very soulful and that is what hooked people at a time when many records were being released by whiny voices. Couple that with the "new school" approach of production by Carlos Berrios which was not relying on the Planet Rock drum machine sound. If you think about the way many of todays Rock and R & B acts use Hip Hop ingredients in their music to gain the attention of the consumers, you will see that what Carlos Berrios was doing was ahead of his time in dance music by incorporating Hip Hop elements in the track. I don't understand the analogy of her tracks having a House touch to them. I don't see it. I think if anything, they were the predecessors to the Break Beat style similar to what the Chyna Dolls recently used on "I Know How To Love You".

u see what i mean when fame gets to u conyo? :mad damn they all get gass up......but now that im seein there are more than one ppl here who had a bad experience with lisette then i feel that someone needs to get in contact with her so she can do some explaining cuz as for an artist shes makin a bad image for herself then she aint gonna have any loyal fans to support her if this is the way shes gonna be towards them u know?

when i bought the kings & queens of freestyle in that she seems all nice and sweet but now that im seein ya complain about her im like undecided now :confused

I don't know how some of you peeps do it. If I were to stumble to a freestyle artist and they be impolite...or charge me for an autograph or anything...it's cursing out mayhem right on front of their face.

From those who I've met the snobbiest are (and I know I may get negative comments on this but it's my personal experience and opinion) Elissa and Joee...considering they are "considered" the top freestyle artists here in Canada and have been around so long I seriously wonder how they do it with that attitude :confused...I've met some other artists that I heard were snobby and didn't find that at all...I've met both American and Canadian artists both new and old and the two I mentioned take the prize 🙁

LMAOOO I HAVE TO LAUGH AT SOME OF THE POST IVE READ LOL SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO LET THE ARTIST KNOW THAT BEFORE THEY GOT THERE THEY WAS HERE WITH NOTHING....THEY FEEL THAT THEIR ABOVE US AND THATS NOT TRUE THEY ARE REGULAR PEOPLE JUST LIKE US AND JUST BECAUSE THEY HAVE A HIT RECORD ITS NOT TO ACT LIKE YOUR SHYT DONT STINK CAUSE NO ONE SHYTS ROSES.....SO IF YOU SEE AN ARTIST ACTING LIKE THEY ALL THAT JUST FACE THEM AND LET THEM KNOW WHERE THEY CAME FROM........

Thats right!
I remember in '98 I had to "READ" Latin-Merengue singer Jessica one time at the Palladium.
Then I kinda got carried away, ripped up the autographed photo she had given me, & I told her I hope she crashed in the plane back to Puerto Rico.
In all honesty, me & my girl were about to hit her after the show. Thats how bad I let her got to me.

She was shocked, & since it was my fathers party, he was PISSED & took me out & told me I wasnt allowed backstage for the remainder of the night! - LMAO!

Funny thing was that there were some other big-name Latin & Freestyle artists that saw how she acted & how I RE-ACTED towards Her.
I know it was kinda mean, but I was happy about what I did. 🙂

...we don't think we are better than anyone else in life, we don't act it
>pfft< How sweet you were to everybody at the Buffalo appearance showed that you ARE better than most 😀 VERY fun time, when's the return road trip? 😉 lolz :cool :cool

LMAO, Go Grey! 😀

As for Lisette, all I can say is "Holy ****, what happened?" Depending when each of those encounters was, of course, something big had to change -- she played Rochester's Puerto Rican Fest in '98, with a signing after, and that was one of my all-time favorite encounters!

Possible new #1 best encounter, last week -- Brenda K. Starr was at the Fest that same year, and (like Lisette) I was able to get a picture with, along with two autographs -- five years later, Brenda returned to Rochester.......and remembered me!!! 😱

('course, in '98, I did give her three of her old 45's, which she herself didn't have... 😉 ...as much as it hurt to part with them, she was so sweet I couldn't possibly say no... :hearton)

hi how you doing

i remember those days like it were yesterday., a day in my life was no big deal,. and that other dum song she sang in 94 goody goody didnt wasnt even heard of in nyc,. there was nothing in that singers game that could even?? touch anybody like judy torrez,. or cynthia ,. or anyone else really,. from 85 to 88

im not trying to cut anyones viewpoint cause i love to hear what my follow freestyle people have to say,. there really aint no right or wrong here,.

just fun

but i remember that chick lizzete melendez,. and freestyle wise in the eighties she would'nt of stacked up to anybody,.
now in the nineties when the other people like tka and judy torrez and cynthia TKA stop putting out and kind of stop doing things maybe,.?

like i said you could tell me she put something here or there,. or that she had some new beat or whatever. that singer freestyle wise didnt do anything important. and shes only remembered i think??

cuase at that time there was nothing going on ( 90 ~ 95) the real big guns of freestyle judy torrez gorge lamond TKA etc,. had pretty much put out there best stuff or had moved on to other things,.

or were taking a break ,., lol

i think ??????

i think????

the field was pretty empty during lizz melendez's rise and fall 90 through 95,. people have to go a long way to prove to me that she was better than anyone back in the days,.

and have to even go longer to show me that she put out anything mind blowing,. i think she was pretty average freestyle singer,. she put out like the majority of singers did 2 songs then disappeared

the thing is during the nineties ,.??? 90 ~ 95 who was around,.???

i think a lot of lizz malendezs hype has to do with that ,.,.??

but i could be wrong

Let's see what can I add to this post? Being the wife of a freestyle artist I can say this.......I have met almost all the freestyle artists,(old school that is), and I can say that most were cool. Maybe one or two, has this "stuck up" attitude about themselves but I don't pay attention to that! I couldn't care less. Sometimes, what we see as "stuck up" or "snobby" is not really that. There could be issues like family problems, psychological problems, financial problems, spouse problems, etc. It could be anything. But they will never tell! So of course, we in todays society can only judge by first impressions! However, there are real stuck up ones too!

My husband is cool with everyone. He is very humble. 🙂 He's a people person! Always has been. I wouldn't be with him today if he was one of those "chip on the shoulder" kind of guy or "stuck up". lol.....

Sonya, tell me you didn't just say that about my sweetie Elissa :mad

I had heard that about Joee, but I'm shocked about Elissa. In the limited contact I have had with her, she has always been very cool with me. Oh well, I don't care what you say, she's still my honey :hearton

LMFAO well each have their own opinions...that's mine..I've seen that side of her more than once so I don't believe she was just having a bad day either that or I have bad luck lol...but I won't say anything else cuz I don't want to disrespect her or her supporters 🙂

I Agree that some may have personal issues goin' on, - were only human, but Lisette has been like that ALMOST ALL the time! So she must have MAD issues then.

But with other artists, it's not even about snobbiness, some just be doing or saying some really f*cked up $h*t sometimes!
Very rude & disrespectful.
Sometimes they deserve a big "BOFETA"!!!
-lol.
Y yo no! ...Yo les tiro las cartas en la mesa PA'RAPIDO!!!
😛
