For those who are familiar with my previous posts regarding Mr. Marano's music you will know that I am not a huge fan of his. I just picked up his latest compilation VIPER MILLENIUM FREESTYLE DANCE PARTY, VOL. 1...I have been hearing good things about this CD so I became interested. I am listening to it as I write this post and I must say that although half of the CD sounds typical of Marano, I am enjoying the other half..."BOYFRIEND/GIRLFRIEND" (Collage), "MY LOVE IS LOCO" (Shayme), "YO TEQUERO MUCHO" (Collage) and "THE BREAK-UP SONG" (Milan Bass) are some of the best stuf he has turned out since the early '90's and early Viper Records...His remakes of "ENDLESS LOVE" (TPE feat. Denine) and "AL NIGHT LONG" (Stephanie Marano) are pretty good as well. I am glad to see that the 3 years since the last Viper compilation (VOL. 10) he has had the time off he needed to "return to his roots", so to speak, and turn out some quality Philly Freestyle!!!

Rhoq I value your insight, opinion and knowledge of freestyle but I have to disagree with you about this compilation. I bought this CD about a month ago and I don't think it's that good. I played it in my car for some of the other people from ClubFreestyle like Spiral, Freestyle Lover, Kenny Da Guido and his girl Diane and I don't think they liked it either.

where is collage from somebody told me he was from philly and when my radio station in philly use to play freestlye they said here is phillys own dennine and collage so im not sure if they where right back then

ADAM NEVER LEFT....HE'S BEEN PUTTING OUT COVER VERSIONS OF HIT SONGS ALL THOSE YEARS. SOME WERE WACK, MANY WERE GOOD. JUST IN CASE YOU DIDN'T KNOW BUT ADAM PUT OUT A SONG LATE 2000 WITH HIS SIS ON VOCALS, WISEGUY ORCHESTRA "CAN U SHOW ME". IT HAD THE BEAT OF ALICE DEEJAY "BETTER OFF ALONE". IT WAS JUST OK. THE SAME GROUP THAT HAD A KTU HIT "MAMBO ITALIANO",BUT NOT WITH ADAM OR HIS SISTER. THEY WERE NOT PART OF THE GROUP THEN.
 
OK, OK let me clarify a few things about my original post...I in no way think that is an excellent compilation, but fans of Adam will love it...My opinion of the few tracks that I did like were rated on the "Marano Scale", Let me explain...The Marano scale has 3 parts: #1 The Old School Marano sound (pre-Viper), #2 The Cheese Factor and #3 The Quality Factor...

#1...Marano had his own unique sound that helped to define what Philly Freestyle was in the early 1990's. Songs that seemed to have a hint of Old School Marano rate high.

#2...As we all know, Adam is known for producing a lot of what some would call cheese-style (I'LL BE LOVING YOU, etc.) the less cheesy the song, the better...

#3...The quality of the songs seemed to me to be a little better on the compilation as the cheese factor was only kept at 50% (instead of the usual 95%). Although Planet Rock was used on many of the songs, the enitre compilation was not built around a Planet Rock loop, which to me raises the quality of the album.

I am still not a big fan of Marano, but I can find appreciation for this CD. Probably because I am from Philly and Adam is the only one in the area still making Freestyle - I try to keep hope alive.

I TRIED TO ORDER A CUSTOM CD FROM THEM (ODEON) A FEW MONTHS BACK AND I GOT AN EMAIL FROM THEM SAYING HOW THEYRE BUISNESS ISNT DOING ALL AS IT USED TO AND THEYRE NOT MAKING ANY MORE CUSTOM CDS - I DUNO I LIKE CHRIS AND ALEXIAS SONGS CANADAIN FREESTYLE WOOHOO
