As the rain falls down in a fast steady rythym,
I light a scented candle and begin to unwind.
Changing into a favorite pair
of oversized sweats,
I lay down in bed,
listening to the rain,
while a collection of love songs
plays softly in the background.
The warm scent of vanilla fills the room,
and I emerse myself in the warmth
and security of my balnkets.
Just before I begin drifting to sleep,
my thoughts wander.
There's something eluding me
that would make this night complete,
as well as perfect,
and that is you.
What I wouldn't give to have you here,
laying beside me,
just holding me in your strong arms.
Wrapped in your security,
we snuggle close,
as to shield ourselves from the cold wind.
Everything becomes oblivious,
my attention focused on you,
and yours on me.
I look into your eyes,
your face only illuminated
by the glow of candlelight,
yet I see the look of contentment,
as well as love in them.
I also notice your heart beats in time with mine,
as you pull me closer to you.
Smiling ever so sweetly,
you gently and softly brush my cheeck
with your lips,
then whispering
the words I've been dreaming to hear:
"I love you"
before falling asleep
in each others arms.
