I noticed over at empiremusicwerks.com, that they have a Freestyle album coming up from Aby.... which has quite a few TKA songs.. like Maria, X ray vision...etc (along w/ other freestyle songs he Re Recorded)

my question is.. did you guys give him permission to record your stuff??, did he need permission.. b/c I don't remember him being around for some of the songs on there... although I could be wrong.
by the way it's a good effort.. BUT some of those songs... you just don't mess with... b/c you can only do "Maria" once... LOL

i have another question:

it seems that Angel from the cover girls is allowed to go out and sing "the cover girls" hits and make a few dollars. does this mean the other former members can go out and do that same thing??

does this apply to other girl groups, seduction, expose & sweet sensation?

or does angel have exclusive rights to these songs??

I think if any member from one of those groups is willing to spend the money on going into the studio and re-recording the music and obtain the rights from the publishing company, they can perform the songs in public. I know Gioia (formerly of Expose) performs Let Me Be the One and Point of No Return in her new stage show.

Regarding Angel, she is the only former Cover Girl member who can actually be billed as "From the Cover Girls". Reason being is because Sal of Fever owns the name Cover Girls, and he has granted Angel permission to perform with the groups name. So I think if any of these former group members wanted to start performing the old songs again (example, Margie from Sweet Sensation), they can but just as long as they are not infringing on the ownership of the group name.
 
Ummmmmm I agree with Aby singing the earlier tunes because he was apart of the group then and he did sing those songs. But when Maria came out he was been booted out from the group. But if he did do "Maria" and any of the songs from the "louder than love" cd, then he was definitely pushing it. I would like to know how I can be able to obtain this new cd he put out though if you happen to know... Phillybronx. Did you get it online? Give me all the details....lol. To me Aby was an excellent vocalist, very talented and as much as everyone hates to admit Aby was an important member of tka. Hey!!!.... now that Angel's not apart of the group and with this whole TK/GL Collabo I think K should give Mr. Aby a call. Hey It'd be to their advantage. LOL!.... now they would have a perfect excuse to use the letter A in TKA for this new cd!!!!!!!!!!
 
das a good idea tho wat betta way 2 keep da A? but its tru dat dere are jus some songs u dont mess wit, this goes 4 any kind of music but if aby's version's of the songs sound good, more power to him, if he mangled dem, he shud b ashamed wat else can u say. mayB dis is his way of aksin his way bak in2 da group u neva kno. mayb he wants 2 sho he styll got it or somtyn. but i duno..
PS i wanna hear 2, whers dis album at, wen's it spose 2 come out??? lol
 
I think it may be a matter of "how" or "why" he isnt in the group anymore. for example, if he quit because he did not get along with the other members, he shouldnt be able to do any of their work BUT if David Lee Roth can do it, I guess Aby can.

Now if he did something that made the members fire him, he shouldnt be allowed to do ANY of the TKA music. another example would be with the group PUBLIC ENEMY. The group fired PROFESSOR GRIFF for his racist attitude and they felt his beliefs would endanger the welfare of the group so they chose to fire him. I dont believe he has done any of the groups material when he went solo. If he did, that indeed be wrong.

So, it may just boil down to why Aby was let go.

Professor Griff was nothing more than the leader of Public Enemy's dance troupe, the S1Ws. He was fired after making racist/ant-semetic statements. He was not actually a recording artist until after he left PE.

Anyways, Professor Griff was brought back into Public Enemy a few years ago and is now a part of their current line-up.

Kenny he might have done some background vocals or possibly even some spoken word cameos on a song or two, but that doesn't make him a bona fide recording artist. His career as a legitmate artist didn't begin until after he left Public Enemy and signed with Luke Skyywalker Records.
 
well, nevertheless, he was a member of the group and he was ousted for his comments and the group did not feel that his attitude was appropriate for the group's image.

I was listening to his songs thro the RealPlayer, his songs are hot, I never heard his voice before, I was only 2 when Scars Of Love came out, but at least with this album I can hear his talent, and he's good I like the song "Soul On Fire"

PS One Way Love was orignally written by Aby, so I guess he had a right to use it, the other TKA song's...well I guess I'll just say that I other have it be him(a member that was in TKA), do the songs over then to have some person who isnt about Freestyle do it.
 
he is a great vocalist...no doubt about it...kay is my fav though, only he can do "MARIA"....im writing here cuz i didnt even know that aby was part of &more!!is that him who sings materialistic girl!!!
