whats up clubfreestyle this is for the philly people and everyone i called Q102 to ask them to play freestyle first time i called they said what song i told them and they never heard of it lol the sec time i called they said what do i wanna hear i said can you play some freestyle then she said can i ask you a question i said yes then one sec later she hung up on me so everyone in philly i would like to see a ban on Q102 and see if they lose rateings im so ticked off nobody hangs up on me now im sitting hear and they are playin new kids on the block but no freestyle if anyone knows someone from the bad station in phily let me know i have a law suit going to them if i was to say play nsync they would not hang up on me but i asked for freestyle thats when they hung up on me
 
That definately pisses me off. I was just listening to my old tapes of Q102 from 95-98- when they sounded good. Now, they suck. They play the same 5 songs over and over and over. I see posts where people complain about KTU playing the same songs over, but Q102 is much worse. They must put 90 spins on there top song. I will definatley go on a Q102 boycott. The thing is, their ratings are really good, so if we want to make a difference, it's gotta be big. The thing that really pisses me off is that they have totally abondoned all dance. A couple months ago, they actually seemed like a dance leaning station, playing new cuts like Tamia, ATC, Melanie C., Daft Punk and more. They also played older cuts in regular rotation, like Bad Yard Club, Alice Deejay, Jocelyn Enriquez, Stevie B., Lil Suzy, Planet Soul, Sonique, and many others. Now, the only dance I hear is Tamia and ATC, and I'm lucky to hear those twice a week. Q102 actually seems more rock leaning now, playing sh*t like Staind, Limp Bizkit, Dave Mathews Band, Train, and others. It really pisses me off. The irony is that on Q102's "Philly 5 Breakdown" (countdown show), almost all the songs are rhythmic, and the 12 Noon Workout, where you can still hear dance and freestyle, is their top rated show, next to the morning show. Doesn't Q102 and Clear Channel see something there???? 😡
 
I have DJGirl971 on my AOL Buddy List. She is Kelly Myers from Q102. I don't even think she knows what freestyle is.
 
me either i think it was her that hung up on me and then i im her and she told me to get a job in radio and see whats up not im never doing radio im in my own dj bus that plays freestyle etc but they dont have the right to hang up on me
 
To Joe and all the other Philly freestyle freaks, hit up Diego from the Q morning show at Diegoatq@aol.com. He's been at Q102 from the beginning. He actually knows what freestyle is. Tell him you wanna hear freestyle and more dance.

thanks jack i will be nice to them they are not so nice to me when they hang up on me just because i wanted a freestyle fix its not like i asked for free tickets etc i asked for freestyle and she said can i ask you a ? and i said yeah then i got the dial tone
 
Also remember that the DJ's (outside of the mixshows) on commercial radio stations have absolutely no say in what goes on the air. In order to create change you need to speak with the Program & Music Directors.

FYI, while not freestyle, Q102 just added Darude's "Sandstorm" this week.

Jack's right, kill them with kindness.

And since they are at an all time ratings high, I wouldn't expect a change to happen too soon. You'd probably have a better chance bugging another station in the market to change formats before a succesful station like Q would mess with their own success.
 
That's cool that Q102 added Sandstorm. It is about 6 months late, but I'll take any dance song I can get. It's too bad the PDRC (Philly Dance Radio Coalition) website still isn't up. I used to be a member there. Our goal was to try to get rhythmic radio back to Philly. I believe the kindness thing works better too, but I've tried being kind with this station before, and it hasn't worked.

But always be polite and tactful...this is not Hip Hop..this is freestyle. People are going to get sick of all that hopittiy hop. There going to run to Freestyle.

thanks jack and everyone i tryed my best to have them put freestyle on but all i got was a dial tone after she said can i ask you a ? then when i talked to a dj online i was not rude i was just tellin the truth not everyone likes rap and top 40 and if you are going to have a club102 you should play club not rap then i said its not rap102 etc i was as nice as can be im still mad that i got hung up on i will keep buggin them and i will be nice i dont want her getting nstink and backstreet boys after me so i will be nice all i want is freestyle i guess its to much to ask here in philly
 
Radio suckers never play me

Radio just plainly sucks........either you hear same old destinys child ro NSnyc and all of the same ghetto stuff or just simply play your cds, which is what i do. Here in Boston we have one station that is called Jamn 94.5 that supposedly they play today hottest music and Boston best Hip Hop, now to those of you that post on this site and are from Boston you guys can relate to this.
First the station doesnt play todays hottes music or the best hip hop, to me is simply rhythmic top 40 what ever that means, the station plays the same old songs that you could you tell what time it is by the song they are playing Nelly, DC, Eminem and so on, and no type of dance what so ever. Then you have another station called Star 93.7 which plays alot 70 and 80s dance classic w/ some updated music like Alice D jay, Tamia, Durade and kinda the same music ktu plays during the day, and once in a blue moon you will hear Dreamboy/Dreamgirl, Bad of the heart, Lisa lisa and of course Stevie B. which at least is something but my point is that radio will never give freestyle a chance no matter what we say and do, we will never reach that status again is gone, and I dont want to be negative, but I am just being realistic, either one of us on this site wins the lotto and buys a radio station or airtime and maybe this way we could be heard, I dont think the pd and music directors are gonna take us seriously at all, all they want is money and ratings and who can blame them, but whenever I dont listen to my cds I listen to the Mega, sister station to NYC the only thing is that is on am, and guess what they play freestyle every thursday and friday during lunch and the 5.00 pm traffic jam, and is off the hook, however is on
AM which you know it sucks, and just to add a little more about Boston radio, I went to this club that one of the Jamn djs was doing some type of promo, I went cause all the drinks were a dollar, they call it dollar night, anyways I went up to Romero which he goes by the Friken Puerto Rican, on the airwaves and I went up to him and asked why dont they play freestyle and he said because there is not a market and that no one listens to it anymore, and I was like really, and I asked him do you like freestyle and he said yes but its not up to me its up the pd and big honchos, so I told him then why dont you say something and he simply responded that he would lose his job, and after that response I bought myself a drink and kept on walking, so I just play my cds or listen to the mega.....sorry for the long post , but radio simply is never going to give us a chance.....peace...
 
this is what i dont get on that station if they dont play freestyle then why do they have the bad boy jooe add for his cd they should play freestyle there are djs djs gotta play everything even if they dont like it i know i play everything and i dont say a word i say sure but my first thing is freestyle so if they dont play freestyle and never will they should take the add off the radio the bad boy joe cd is great i cant wait for vol2

Dont Let Q102 get ya down! Look on the brighter side freestyle is makin a comeback I feel , n Q102 will have to notice sooner or later.....right!? Well I ca only hope. I think theres less love for freestyle in Philly than like in Allentown...which surprised me when i went to chrome for freestyle rush. The concert was HOOOT unforgetable, but I saw that the love for freestyle there isnt quite what I expected. Allentown has a pretty big NY population so we have a pretty great love 4 freestyle here. We have a a freestyle show almost every week 😱 😀 its pretty amzin to see. The crowd be singin along... its the best! We have a college station that plays freestyle every friday night!! B104 will sometimes....I guess we need to have a new station emerge , we cant depend on Q102. I agree though I miss the old Q102 days...........anyways now u got me curious i might call n request freestyle hehe
 
its ok mandy all they have here in philly is the hip hop and boy band fans so they play that they dont play what other people want and they call themselfs djs they gotta play what everyone likes not what one person etc likes good luck on callin them i hope they dont hang up on you like me
